The Role

The Corporate Development team for banking and payments is working to chart a new partnership path for CCB, bringing together the assets of the firm to create “OneChase” opportunities to delight our customers. In addition to managing major co-brand and payment partnerships, the team is re-evaluating the way that we deploy our assets with third parties throughout payments and banking to broaden our reach to existing and new customer segments through new and existing partners. This team is evaluating new digital payment and banking opportunities with major digital platforms, navigating key considerations around customer and data ownership, new revenue models and new product constructs not yet available in the marketplace. These potential partnerships have the potential to change the future of digital banking as well as shape the CCB of the future. Establishing these businesses and partnerships requires careful strategic consideration and we are looking for a team of smart and practical leaders to shape the organization. While we are looking for strategic thought leaders, this is not a strategy team. This organization will be evaluated on its ability to efficiently and effectively evaluate, negotiate and launch new partnerships. We are looking for smart people who can deliver at Chase.


In this role, the successful candidate will develop, negotiate and execute strategic partnerships with major digital platform players to advance the One Chase agenda. He or she must be #customerobsessed and partner-oriented and ensure that Chase continues to be at the forefront of digital development.  The successful candidate needs to understand the major digital platforms from a customer point-of-view and work with Digital product teams to develop integrations that will delight customers by meeting unmet needs.  Every partnership needs to start and end with the Customer.  The Head of Digital Partnership Development will develop and execute ongoing partnership plans for the major platforms to drive unique product development for Chase and bring Chase into new customer segments at scale.  The candidate will also be responsible for the firms fin-tech strategy


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute a multi-year partnership plan for the major digital platforms informed by LOB and OneChase strategies
  • Generate, evaluate and present to senior management key partnership opportunities to further OneChase objectives and Firm priorities
  • Collaborate extensively with the CCB Digital team to track product innovations and assess partnership opportunities across Digital including payments, mobile banking and tokenization
  • Lead deal teams across opportunities and partnerships managing cross-functional partners
  • Recruit high-impact/ high-performing talent and develop talent across the Corporate Development organization
  • Successfully partner with core CCB central teams, including Strategy, Technology and Finance

  • Minimum 15+ years industry experience, preferably across digital, banking, financial services and/or payments
  • Must be a strong collaborator, able to build and leverage relationships at the most senior levels of the organization

  • Effective and inspiring people leader, able to recruit, develop and retain top strategy, deal execution and operations talent

  • Strong financial and business acumen with a demonstrated ability to evaluate new business models and assess key assumptions. Must be able to manage to a budget and to accurately forecast costs of implementations.

  • Strong executive presence with impeccable written and oral communication skills - must be as comfortable inspiring and leading new talent as communicating synthesized materials to executive management

  • Strong controls mindset with a demonstrated ability to place the Firm’s control agenda at the fore and a track record of developing and executing compensating controls alongside new product development

  • Strong technology capabilities - must be able to manage major technology products end-to-end and develop key solutions for scalability

  • BS degree or equivalent experience required, MBA preferred
