The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for independently assessing, reviewing and overseeing the management of Operational Risk by the first line of defense.

 

The successful candidate will join a small team of risk professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience who collectively ensure that the Firm’s Operational Risk Management Framework is implemented and functions effectively within CIB Markets.

 

Description:

The candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Leveraging the Firmwide Operational Risk Management Framework to Identify, Measure, Monitor, Manage, Report and Govern Operational Risk for the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates.

  • Focus on Electronic Trading within the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates.

  • Drive the evolution of the Electronic Trading Operational Risk Management Framework

  • Reviewing and approving new or material changes to Electronic Trading Activities within the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates.

  • Provide independent assessment of the Operational Risks within the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates adjusting the risk profile view of the Business as the operational environment changes.

  • Communicate the changing Operational Risk Profile to senior Business leads in a timely manner with context and clear scenarios with proposed solutions.  

  • Monitor the Operational Risks in the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates through the creation of relevant KRIs with appropriate thresholds.

  • Work with the testing team to test the effectiveness of controls mitigating heightened Operational Risks.

  • Raising issues for the first line of defense to remediate through action plans.

  • Leveraging and influencing a centralized strategy for metrics and dashboard reporting to support the Operational Risk mandate.

  • Liaising with key senior stakeholders across Markets including first, second and third line of defence.

  • Driving the broader Operational Risk agenda through research, presentations, assessments and reviews

  • Bring a focus upon internal process re-engineering, with a view to making recommendations and enhancements to existing Risk processes where opportunities arise

  • Stay abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation.


  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance or Finance related subject; Masters Qualification a bonus.
  • Experience with Risk Management, Operations, Technology, Production Management or Front Office related Markets Businesses activities required, focus on the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates preferred.
  • Understanding of the products and services offered by the Macro Business, focused on the Commodities and Currencies & Emerging Markets or Rates.
  • Understanding of internal systems (including E-Trading systems), technology architecture and components, processes, sub-processes, risks and controls preferred.
  • Excellent project management with successful track record of completion
  • Strong team player and ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a fast paced environment.  
  • Passionate and capable of learning in a changing environment while delivering results
