CCB Data & Analytics: 

The CCB Data & Analytics Team unifies data and analytics talent across Chase to responsibly leverage data to build competitive advantages for our businesses with value and protection for customers.  The team encompasses a variety of Data & Analytics disciplines, from data governance and data strategy/partnerships to reporting, data science and machine learning, and are actively engaged in ensuring impact at the front-line and the customer through Sales and Marketing transformation.  We have a strong partnership with our dedicated Technology partners, who provide us with our cutting edge data and analytics infrastructure. Data Governance is a discipline that is becoming increasingly important in J.P. Morgan Chase.  The mData Product team supports the development of tools and services to support all CCB Data Governance activities.  CCB Data Governance as a whole is responsible for collecting meta-data, management of data elements, creation of rules to monitor the quality of data elements and driving identified data quality issues through to resolution.


mData team is driving the build out of next generation data platform which will power industry leading client reporting, direct data consumption by our business and analytics community. The position is ideal for an individual that can combine product management and end to end ownership experience, a deep understanding of next generation data and analytics environments and superior problem structuring skills. Product Analyst will work within the Product Owner team to help drive the development of CCB Data Governance tools. They will also work with technology scrum teams to ensure that progress against the strategy and releases is maintained.  


This highly collaborative position requires an individual who has demonstrable product management, ownership, and communication skills. The ideal candidate understands that product management is cross-functional and involves development, research, client interaction, architecture, process mapping, resource planning, and general awareness of goals versus constraints. Work effectively with all key stakeholders to increase value information within the metadata environment, regardless of source.  The role encompasses metadata analysis, relationship and pattern matching, and rule to validate the quality of metadata. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining progress against product roadmaps and balancing internal and client demands against release schedules

  • Working closely with the IT partners to ensure that product demands are understood from a development perspective and that products are delivered according to a published timeline

  • Should be able to tell stories using data explain typically complex notions in plain English to form a cohesive “story” that conveys the implications of your analysis to business

  • Proactively collaborate with upstream data providers and downstream consumers to prepare roadmap and plan to create a distributed data repository on top of Hadoop.

  • Effectively manage competing priorities and multiple concurrent projects to meet deadline requirements.

  • Within the Agile Scrum development methodology:

    • Understanding the true business need through working with the end user community

    • Maintain product backlog overseeing the creation of user stories to clearly convey requirements and acceptance criteria to developers and testers

    • Active participation in the agile team including agile scrum ceremonies and meetings

    • Escalating impediments appropriately

  • Working with the training team to produce and deliver training materials

  • Developing communication and presentations to executive leadership



Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of working in large and medium project teams, as a contributing member in self-directed roles

  • 1 to 5 years of product or related experience working with Agile teams

  • Proven success working with a variety of internal/external teams at various levels of management

  • Product management experience in an analytics/information technology setting

  • Expertise in data mining, data modelling/wrangling, candidate needs to have the ability to analyze data using SQL, develop dashboard and reports using BI tools.

  • Competent in the use of data technology to solve complex business problems, with hands-on expertise in the use of multiple Business Intelligence, advanced analytics toolsets and database platforms; examples include Tableau, Cognos, Hadoop/Oracle/Teradata, SQL, Python.

  • Expertise in data and analytics platforms, data base administration and data warehouse design and associated technologies (e.g., APIs)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field

  • Experience with technical concepts and working with technical staff as needed

  • Ability to work independently and develop creative ways to achieve goals

  • Experience with JIRA or other tools used to support Agile development methodology.

  • Knowledge of metadata collection tools and rule execution engines and how they may be used within a data quality environment preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint

  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders across functions

  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills to plan, organize and schedule resources

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented, cross-functional environment
