As a Military Pathways Direct Hire, you will be placed in a role based on professional experience and business priorities, focused on one of a few areas including: Asset & Wealth Management, Consumer & Community Banking, Commercial Banking, Corporate and Corporate & Investment Banking.

To ensure continuous development throughout the program, each candidate will receive mentorship, guidance, and support from their individual manager, program manager, veteran sponsor and many other influential business partners across the firm.

In addition to your business role responsibilities, as a Pathways member you will participate in training programs, learning sessions, individual mentoring relationships and networking events. You will interact with JPMorgan Chase & Co. senior management and partner with a military veteran sponsor who will assist you with the transition from military life into our organization.

You can also become a member of our Veteran’s Business Resource Group, an employee group that supports veteran causes. And of course, you will have the strong support network of your fellow military veteran colleagues. The cohort format of Pathways will provide you with a network of peers to share experiences and a sense of community amongst fellow veterans as you contribute to a business area aligned to your skillset.

The Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries (CCBSI) group at J.P. Morgan focuses on U.S. and Canadian companies with revenues in excess of $500 million which require both traditional commercial banking services in addition to investment banking products. Our competitive advantage is that we cover the market in a truly unique way – through a partnership between our Corporate and Investment Bankers, who together build relationships with our clients and leverage both commercial and investment banking products to offer tailored financial solutions.

Responsibilities of an Analyst
As a Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries Analyst, you will:
  • Prepare presentation and marketing materials for use in client meetings and transaction execution, covering topics such as financing alternatives, capital markets activity, capital structure advisory, treasury services, and derivatives
  • Participate in stages of a syndicated and leveraged finance investment banking deal cycle, from the pitch phase through execution
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate creditworthiness of a client and the impact of various capital structures
  • Conduct industry research and comparable company and transaction analysis
  • Coordinate efforts with deal team members and product partners across the Commercial Bank and the Corporate & Investment Bank
  • The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer. It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level. 

Training and development
Depending on experience, you may participate in a four-week Investment Banking training program in New York that giving you key technical and practical knowledge with a focus on financial modelling, valuation, accounting, corporate finance, economics, equity capital markets, debt capital markets and risk analysis.

You'll also be trained on topics that cover financial instruments and real-world applications of theoretical concepts. Throughout the CCBSI Analyst program, you’ll participate in continuing education courses designed to further your banking knowledge and provide further exposure and insight into the J.P. Morgan product platform.

If you have not previously obtained your Series licenses, you will be required to take the Series 79 and 63 exams. In-person and online courses will be available prior to sitting for the exams.

The work is fast paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for the following qualifications in our candidates:

U.S. Military Veteran Applicant Qualifications
Location: Chicago, IL

  • Enlisted/Junior Officer background and 4+ years of experience
  • BA/BS required
  • 0-5 years of separation from military service
  • Demonstrated learning agility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Forward thinking and able to work through complex and unpredictable circumstances
  • Ability to adapt to change and achieve positive business outcomes
  • Ability to participate in scheduled Induction training in New York from October 23-25

CCBSI Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of Commercial Banking, Investment Banking or Accounting experience.
  • Minimum GPA 3.2
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and product partners
  • Partnership skills are essential as work will often overlap with industry partners, product partners and investment banking teams. Candidates must be prepared to assume a high level of responsibility
  • Attention to detail and quality of work are paramount as the analyst’s work is the foundation for the marketing materials presented to clients and backbone of the analysis for important risk decisions
  • Ability to learn on the fly and adapt quickly as deals and the capital markets evolve
