Osteoporosis affects nearly 13 million men and women in the U.S., but as of 2018, only ~25% of affected individuals are treated despite a growing elderly population. Although osteoporosis has many generic options available, Amgen has emerged as the leader in this therapeutic area with our flagship brand, Prolia®, launched in 2010, and EVENITY ® which launched in Q2 2019. 9 years in market, Prolia continues to deliver strong growth of ~24% year on year and in 2018 treated over 1 million patients in the US and 3.5 million worldwide!

The Marketing Manager will support the marketing HCP promotions for Prolia. This assignment will lead the development and execution of core HCP activities to support planning and implementation of disease state education and branded promotions through field sales. They will partner with cross-functional matrix teams across the bone health team when working on key brand projects. This position will consist of agency as well as vendor management, plus cross-functional matrix management across Amgen's commercial, medical, legal, and regulatory enterprises.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute branded HCP activities, promotional programs and messages collaborating with medical, legal and regulatory to translate clinical data into compelling promotional messaging
  • Support the planning and management of the disease state education for high risk post-menopausal osteoporosis and materials to support HCP unbranded education
  • Support promotional strategy development and aligned personal and non-personal tactics in partnership with the cross-functional matrix team, including HCP and patient marketing, market research, legal, regulatory, medical, segment marketing, compliance, and IS.
  • Partner with internal team and sales leadership to ensure activities are aligned to brand strategy, goals, growth drivers, and key messages, aligned with Material and Approval Compliance (MAC) guidance
  • Collaborate with sales training to ensure effective, impactful, outstanding training on promotional tools and programs
  • Partner with multi-channel marketing (MCM) and Peer to Peer education leads to pull through content and execute innovative non-personal tactics that drive uptake
  • Effectively support the management of strategic investment of the promotional budget and vendor management (performance of ad agency and other promotional agencies)
  • Lead outside partners to execute projects
  • Work with Customer Data & Analytics (CD&A) to develop and carry out market research plan and measurement testing needs to support strategy, programs, and expected returns/success
  • Closely monitor performance to ensure cost effective delivery of all programs and find opportunities for continuous improvement


Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree


Or

  • Master's degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization


Or

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization


Or

  • Associate's Degree and 8 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization


Or

  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in marketing, healthcare management, or related subject area
  • 8+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience with strong marketing & management skills including developing market strategies (segmentation, positioning, key messages, etc.), executing tactics, and responsibility for revenue generation
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility within marketing
  • Experience in Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Primary Care or other specialty markets (clinical acumen is fundamental to the success of this role)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to think strategically and solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, work and lead cross-functional teams to drive business results and build effective partnerships in a heavily matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills, including ability to influence teams with diverse backgrounds to set direction, align work efforts, and ensure outstanding execution
  • Experience working closely with field sales organizations to implement marketing programs with measurable business impact
  • Outstanding project management skills and experience leading multiple vendors and agencies
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple competing priorities
  • Thorough knowledge of legal as well as the regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate commercial and competitive implications of complex technical/clinical/regulatory data
  • Strong assertive attitude, and ability to champion ideas, make decisions and focus on results
  • Strong business judgment and emotional intelligence
