  • ​This job is a member of the Simulation Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for managing all phases and aspects of operational support to assure effective maintenance of simulators and other training equipment to assure continuing qualification of equipment as required.
What you'll do
  • Authors and administers AA Simulator Quality Management System as mandated by FAA, CFR Part 60
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and responsibility of American Airlines sponsorship of all Flight Training equipment with FAA’s NSP (National Simulator Program)
  • Manages initial qualification and annual requalification of American Airlines Simulators and Flight Training Devices in accordance with applicable FAA Regulations and Advisory Circulars
  • Ensures that Flight Simulators and Flight Training Devices are properly maintained to meet qualification standards required by the FAA and by the company
  • Maintains communication with individual Fleet Training and Standards Managers to ensure correct definition and validation of flight crew discrepancies
  • Works closely and provide liaison with Fleet Training and Standards Managers and Check Airman to identify and correct problems affecting simulator technical issues
  • Services as Management Representative for the industry committees such as STIG (Simulator Technical Issues Group)
  • Oversees appropriate testing and modifications are performed in a timely manner on the Flight Simulators and Flight Training Devices to meet FAA standards
  • Ensures scheduling and coordination of all FAA evaluations
  • Reviews Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) results and maintenance records

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Experience dealing with regulatory authorities

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Basic knowledge of the aircraft transportation system and the training required for a person to operate within
  • Basic knowledge of flight simulation hardware / software technologies and systems
  • Detailed knowledge of simulator / training device maintenance practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of simulator / training device engineering procedures
  • Working knowledge of American Airlines budgeting / accounting practices
  • Working knowledge of FAA Flight Training equipment requirements
  • Strong managerial, interpersonal, communication and PC skills
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
