This job is a member of the Revenue Management Team within the Revenue Management Division.

 

  • Lead a technical team, responsible for various Revenue Management systems, including Yield Management, Pricing, and Ancillary pricing systems.
  • Responsible for leading a team to drive significant top line revenue improvements for American Airlines and being a thoughtful leader and active participant as a member of the RM leadership team.
  • Responsible for creating and fostering a relentless focus on marketplace execution by assessing the competitive marketplace, identifying new revenue opportunities and leveraging available tools, processes, best practices and reporting.
What you'll do
  • The RM/OR group drives improvements in revenue management systems by analyzing forecast and revenue data and implementing creative solutions to improve profitability.
     
  • Manager leads a team of analysts who are primarily responsible for project-based assignments that require a mix of strong analytical skills, the aptitude to solve complex problems and see prototypes through to implementation working along with IT partners.
     
  • Team-members on this team are responsible for implementing prototype solutions using programming languages such as Python and Java, statistical tools like R, as well as business insights
  • Works with various commercial groups to creatively solve company business problems.

 

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • BS, MS or PhD in Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field
  • Experience solving large-scale problems and familiarity with the airline industry/airline economics are a plus
  • Ability to drive to technical outcomes while working with various stakeholders across different business units and IT.
  • Experience leading a technical team is a plus
  • Prior experience in Revenue Management, Finance, Network Planning or Sales Planning preferred

  • ​Ability to manage a team and support critical business decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify gaps in current tools and systems and create vision for Revenue Management success going forward
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with and consensus amongst multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
  • Ability to solve and to lead others in solving complex analytical problems
  • Willingness to take calculated risks
  • An aptitude for logical analysis, problem identification, and problem solving as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required
  • Display key attributes required by American Airlines: Personal integrity, respectful of others and their opinions, inclusive, team oriented, adaptable, positive and optimistic
  • Willingness to show initiative and take ownership of job responsibilities
