The role is a part of the Brand & Advertising team within our Marketing Division.  This role leads a team in the development of strategic marketing campaigns that drive flight bookings and upsell, collaborating with teams across American. This role will also work with media agency partners to effectively manage campaigns and measure their impact in order to maximize return on investment.  Set long-term strategy for digital advertising innovation and provide global thought-leadership for paid media, and set media standards and benchmarks to drive impactful media campaigns.

What you'll do
  • Leads paid media strategy for initiatives that drive flight bookings and upsell
  • Measures campaign impact in order to determine the most effective channels and maximize return on investment
  • Leverages media mix modeling, insights and audience segmentation to develop paid media strategies
  • Develops advertising plans for new route launches, coordinating multiple teams across the business and identifying potential partner funding (airports, tourism boards) to amplify budgets
  • Sets long-term digital marketing innovation strategy, and works closely with IT, legal, data commercialization and marketing analytics teams to develop innovative ad tech solutions that meet business needs
  • Collaborates with departments across American to share campaign results and optimize performance
  • Leads paid media strategies to create media standards and KPIs to develop more effective campaigns globally
  • Oversees search marketing strategy and manages strategic business plans with key media partners and platforms
  • Collaborates closely with the Brand Advertising team to ensure development of performance marketing creative follows brand strategy and guidelines
  • Oversees media agency relationship and creates an effective partnership
  • Leads a team and is responisble for support and development
  • Oversees shared platforms and technology (ad serving, tagging, automated bidding tools)
  • Manages relationships of vendor and other technology partners
  • Must be willing to participate in out of hours business activities and travel overseas when needed
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related subject
  • 5 years marketing experience in advertising, media or other related fields
  • Previous agency management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's Degree
  • Media or other agency experience


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Experience in SEM, digital marketing and ad technology and tools
  • Knowledge of digital media buying and programmatic landscape
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of digital media
  • Solid understanding of traditional media KPIs and channel attribution models
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional groups and foster relationships
