Are you looking for a challenging new opportunity to test and growth your technical skills? We have multiple Maintenance Tech-Utilities positions available to join AML6-Drug Substance organization. This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a variety of challenges and responsibilities around our state-of-the-art Mammalian Cell Culture facility at Amgen Manufacturing Limited in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

The role

Operate assigned equipment, facility, utility, and HVAC Systems in accordance with established guidelines and operating procedures. Conduct basic troubleshooting and employ basic predictive technologies to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions for equipment problems or to diagnose equipment problems. Under general supervision, execute intermediate maintenance activities. Employs technical knowledge of all Utilities areas within the 7/24 non-standard shift operations at the AML6 Drug Substance building.

The department

The AML-6 Facility is the home of best-in-class, multi-product Drug Substance Manufacturing Operations. The facility highlights the combination of groundbreaking manufacturing sciences and process technology, advanced equipment engineering and automation, and a high-performance culture integrating cross-functional teams from across the site with the goal of achieving being the best mammalian Drug Substance manufacturing facility in the world.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform standard engineering work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Operate utility and HVAC systems in accordance with established guidelines and operating procedures.
  • Employ technical knowledge in the utilities areas including but not limited to clean utilities, plant utilities, HVAC, etc.
  • Execute intermediate maintenance activities, operates, and monitors utilities support equipment, referring complex issues or problems to more experienced personnel.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/systems the team is responsible for.
  • Perform various "Housekeeping" activities, (i.e., keeping work areas clean and organized, cleaning of equipment, etc.).
  • Ensure that operational log paperwork, daily log files, and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Provide detailed training program in order to develop one's knowledge in the maintenance and utilities operations and other areas of the plant.
  • All work must be completed in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and Amgen policies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date all trainings.
  • Develop, revise, and review related SOPs or job plans/work plans for work related areas.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting of utility, process, and HVAC related equipment/ systems.
  • Plan and schedule own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities.
  • Review utility, process system/equipment, duct-work plans, and HVAC P&ID's.
  • Perform basic HVAC balancing, air handler maintenance & troubleshooting.
  • Support non-standard shift in a 7/24-hours organization that will include weekend and night shifts.


Basic skills and education needed

  • Associate's degree and 2 years of Maintenance experience within a GMP regulated industry

OR
  • High School diploma and 4 years of Maintenance experience within a GMP regulated industry


Beyond that, the preferred qualifications are:

  • Technical or Associate Degree educational background in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, HVAC, and/or Engineering.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams.
  • Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of one or more of the following technical areas: Utility Plant Operations/ Maintenance, Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, or HVAC Operations/ Maintenance
  • Communication skills in English and Spanish.
