Within Amgen's Research and Development organization, the Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) team strives to revolutionize the design and discovery of breakthrough differentiating therapeutics. Driven by passion and commitment, the CDS team provides actionable insights from physical and data modeling to accelerate therapeutic discovery.

We are currently seeking highly qualified machine learning scientists to join our research team, with the goal of applying their expertise to develop models and algorithms, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of computational and experimental scientists, across a broad discovery area of research. The key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and implement cutting edge machine learning models.
  • Collaborate with other Amgen computational scientists and experimental scientists to develop or optimize predictive/generative models that can directly impact the discovery pipeline.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in Computational/Theoretical Chemistry, Applied Math, Computer Science, or related quantitative field (must be completed by August 2020)

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in in Computational/Theoretical Chemistry, Applied Math, Computer Science or related quantitative field.
  • Strong track record of research accomplishment with three or more scientific publications or conference presentations.
  • Experience in and enthusiasm for developing and applying machine learning (both traditional and deep) to small molecules, computational chemistry problems or drug discovery.
  • Experience with molecular representation/featurization, property prediction, molecular generation, virtual screening, etc.
  • Experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, UNIX.
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment.
