The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the firm and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the firm’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure permits legal teams and businesses and staff areas to address legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.  Within the Legal Department, the Wholesale Payments Global Practice Group supports the firm’s wholesale payments related businesses, including the Commercial Card business. 


The Legal team that supports Commercial Card seeks a paralegal assistant to work on administration, projects, document review, basic legal research and strategic initiatives, including:

  • document preparation and review
  • project management, including tracking progress of projects and initiatives 

  • document execution
  • scanning/indexing/tracking critical legal documents and uploading them timely and accurately into multiple online document repositories

  • preparation of presentation materials
  • meeting scheduling and coordination
  • travel arrangements and expense processing

    The role will include daily interaction with executives across the lines of businesses and control functions. The duties will require confidentiality, initiative, sound decision-making, independent judgment, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to escalate serious or unique problems.

  • Establish and maintain open communication policies with peers and managers globally, and develop a strong internal network to support the department and to quickly define solutions to identified issues.

  • Maintain familiarity with all department policies and technology updates and take a lead role in change management. 

  • Maintain confidentiality of information.   
  • Prepare and edit impactful and well-designed presentations and reports for the Commercial Card Legal team.  

  • Create and maintain online content (e.g., intranet).

  • Actively participate in department projects and strategic initiatives. 

  • Develop appropriate trackers for document review and other projects. 

  • Maintain Practice Group specific policies and procedures. 
  • Assist in developing and coordinating meeting agendas and recording action items. 


  • Bachelor’s degree.   
  • Prior experience as a paralegal with a large law firm or a financial institution would be a plus but not required. 

  • Proven technical skills, highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc.), Adobe Professional and SharePoint, with demonstrated ability to learn and master new technology such as document management, matter and spend management systems quickly.

  • All candidates for roles in the Legal Department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
