Position Purpose

Purchases, orders, receives, stores and issues/delivers supplies and food items for the various dining operations within Dartmouth's Collis Center. Records and maintains inventories using the Computrition Menu Management system. Inputs and exports data within the Computrition system, including recipes, reports, etc. Oversees work of Purchasing/Storeroom Coordinator on a day-to-day basis. Assists as cashier or counterworker in the Collis Caf or Collis Market as required. Other duties as required.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Purchasing and Receiving - 40%

  • Determines weekly food product specifications with input from cooks and bakers.
  • Purchases, receives, stores and delivers perishable and non-perishable food items and supplies.
  • Develops relationships with vendors and maintains awareness of changes in delivery schedules to incorporate changes into ordering needs.
  • Counts, sorts or weighs incoming items to verify receipt on requisitions/invoices.
  • Identifies order discrepancies and follows up with vendors on resolution. Utilizes systems to identify costs savings and/or quality improvement.
  • Finalizes orders and transmits before deadline.

Maintenance - 20%

  • Oversees the maintenance and up keep of the storage areas and freezers.
  • Ensures proper sanitation and cleanliness procedures are adhered to and meet all health codes.
  • Maintains storage areas in a neat and orderly manner; dust and debris free.
  • Maintains cardboard area, bails cardboard.
  • Coordinates needed equipment repair with the Maintenance Department.

Inventory - 15%

  • Sets up and maintains systems inventory and vendor product information.
  • Conducts weekly and monthly inventory and completes stock records. Compiles data and prepares special and recurring inventory reports.
  • Ensures proper rotation of storeroom supplies.
  • Participates in the annual inventory of all supplies and equipment.

Catering - 10%

  • Reads orders to determine the amount and kind of foods and supplies to be packaged, ensuring necessary inventory is available for events.
  • Researches and orders specialty items for events.

Miscellaneous - 15%

  • Oversees work of Purchasing/Storeroom Coordinator.
  • Assists with the supervision and training of receiving staff.
  • Assists as cashier or counterworker in the Collis Caf or Collis Market as required.
  • Assists in the receiving of items, stocking of shelves, facing of products and inventory related to the Collis Market as needed or requested.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the Computrition Menu Management System.
  • Attends and represents Dartmouth College at various food shows.
