Support the accounting responsibilities within the Regional Accounting Office in Costa Rica that handles six other countries in Central America and others in South America. The position works among cross functional teams to ensure the accounting activities are appropriately analyzed, processed and documented in compliance with internal controls, process and procedure and local country regulations.

What you'll do

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries
  • To process and prepare multiple tax/statistical filings (municipal, federal, withholdings, etc.)
  • To work multiple projects simultaneously, setting deadlines and adjusting priorities
  • To present results and follow-through to completion for all initiatives
  • To interact with local accounting firms at multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local books requirements & financial information
  • To oversee month-end AP close and ensure it is processed accurately
  • To liaise with vendors / stations / HQ to resolve discrepancies and handle queries that arise in the payment and processing of multiple taxes
  • Assist and/or complete miscellaneous ad hoc projects as assigned
  • To meet accounting goals and deadlines
  • To review accounting policies and procedures and local Tax Laws at different countries
  • To be familiar with auditing procedures

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • University degree with a focus in accounting or equivalent education/training
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Demonstrated excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to deal with confidential subject matter
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
  • Effective teamwork. Emotional Intelligence to enhance work relationships and performance


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Qualified or Part Qualified CPA, ACCA, AAT, MBA or equivalent education/certification
  • Knowledge of tax laws and local reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of airline accounting practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP
  • Work experience in an accounting environment
