Are you looking for a challenging new opportunity to test and growth your technical skills? We have an immediate need for a various Instrument Technicians to join AML's 14 - Formulation and Filling Facility. This is an outstanding opportunity to seek a variety of challenges and responsibilities in support to our manufacturing facility at Amgen Manufacturing Limited in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

The Role

The Instrument Technician is responsible for performing/providing calibration, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and documentation of instruments, process control systems, and equipment used in manufacturing, utility plants, and analytical labs. All work to be completed to assure minimal impact to production while following cGMP and Amgen regulations in a Non Standard Shift Organization.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform basic calibrations of instruments on process and utility equipment.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/ systems the team is responsible for.
  • Ensure that calibration paperwork, instrument files and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Execute intermediate maintenance activities with process maintenance technician, or operates and monitors plant support equipment, referring complex issues or problems to more expert personnel.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/systems the team is responsible for
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of Manufacturing equipment's such as Vial and syringe filler, autoclaves, washer's portable tanks and another manufacturing equipment or system.
  • Provide basic support of start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Participate in a detailed training program in order to develop one's knowledge in the instrumentation field and other areas of the plant.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and updating of related SOPs for work related areas.
  • Configure and repair microprocessor based instruments and controllers.
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair of process control and laboratory instruments.
  • All work must be completed in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and Amgen policies.
  • Perform regular certification of equipment to verify conformance to industry standards and Amgen procedures.
  • Maintain an up to date cGMP training book.
  • Plan and schedule own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities.
  • Other functions that may be assigned.


For this opportunity the basic requirements are:

Associate's degree and 2 years of Maintenance experience in GMP regulated environment

or

High school diploma/GED and 4 years of Maintenance experience in GMP regulated environment

Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:

Basic Skills:
  • Availability for Non Standard Shifts
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams
  • Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of one or more of the following technical areas: Manufacturing Equipment Operations/ Maintenance, Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, CIP/SIP Operations/ Maintenance.
  • Preferred experience as Aseptic Processing Plant, Drug Product Plant or Isolators
