This role sits within the Commercial Data and Analytics Patient Data Management team and the co-op would be responsible for assisting in the enhancement of patient centric advanced analytics. The co-op would report directly into the Patient Analytics lead and would focus on the General Medicine Therapeutic Area utilizing Amgen's Patient Support Program data, claims data, and other relevant patient data sets. Within this position the co-op would play a key role in assisting in the delivery of meaning patient journeys and patient flow that would help to improve overall patient experience.

Key responsibilities would include:
  • Using programming and scripting to parse/prepare data
  • Apply machine learning algorithms
  • Incorporate parallel or distributive computing capability for efficient modeling of large datasets
  • Communicate and present findings internally


Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in a a Master's program for a Masters internship OR a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree concentration(s) in Data Science or Biotatistics
  • Basic knowledge of R or Python and parallel or distributive computing on large datasets
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, clustering and neural net
  • Independent problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
