ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Global Vice President, Business Development - Automotive, your leadership is pivotal to the realization of market strategy in Automotive and will have direct impact to the success of company business growth drivers. This role couples hands-on leadership with a start-up mentality utilized to define strategy and plans for day to day execution. Success is realized with influence management across all internal functions. Responsibilities include market strategy definition, partner/channel identification, RFx response leadership, customer engagements, competitive analysis and industry leadership. This leader is responsible for generating a common vision, enabling sales and specifying/communicating market specific solutions with sales to enable customers success.

Interface & Collaboration

Report directly to the Vice President of Worldwide Market Segments

You will be an integral part of the Wind River Leadership Team

You will collaborate with cross-vertical experts (including telecommunications, industrial automation, medical, aerospace and defense), Corporate Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Services

Responsibilities

  • Identify, augment and adjust the vertical market strategy to underpin growth in the automotive segment
  • Provide thought leadership, industry knowledge coupled with relationships within the automotive OEMs, integrators and suppliers to support the vertical strategy
  • Provide hands-on leadership across internal functions to realize the strategy for our automotive segment
  • Lay the foundation and proof points for growth numbers in year and beyond
  • Primary responsibility to lead company responses to customer RFxs by leveraging competencies across the organizations
  • Provide direction and specific position for market positioning and customer facing collateral and solutions to sales enablement and marketing teams
  • 40-50% travel required
  • Home office based

ABOUT YOU

Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success

  • Customer Interface Experience at the C level in the automotive sector
  • Strong Collaboration and Influence Management Skills
  • Strategy development and execution experience
  • Change Agent with results
  • Fundamental knowledge of embedded computing, development tools and processes

Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge of the software Automotive market with strong emphasis on safe and secure software (ideally with experience in the Detroit area)
  • Ability to manage teams, directly and indirectly, across geographies
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences, events and public relations events
  • Experience working with sales, prospective customers to build aligned vision and solutions
  • 12+ years of experience specifically in software development/architecture, product management, business development and/or strategy
  • Active business connections with leading Automotive companies, suppliers and integrators
  • BSEE/CS or equivalent required, MBA a plus
