Reporting to the Director Medical Operations or Senior Manager Medical Operations, the Medical Operations Manager position will partner with cross functional teams, including Information systems, to ensure timely and high quality delivery. The manager will also ensure optimum development & implementation of process & technology solutions to support fulfillment of our vision to support performance across Medical capabilities.

The Manager role and associated activities are critical to attaining our vision of being recognized as the most accomplished and respected Medical organization by 2022. This role is accountable for all global medical performance management responsibilities which includes ensuring standardization, training, quality, and timely delivery across various global medical capabilities.

This individual achieves results through rigorous goal setting, accountability measures, effective cross-functional collaboration, performance management, and by building strong partnerships with other groups. The chosen individual is committed to serving customers both inside and outside of Global Medical Operations. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and facilitates operational activities to plan, build, implement, launch and maintain the capability in accordance with capability strategies, goals & roadmap
  • Executes operations activities for the capability and ensures timely and quality delivery of capability plans in partnership with capability leads and leadership team
  • Proactively communicate with all applicable teams across functions and geographies to ensure alignment with capability plans & to seek opportunities for innovation and improvements
  • Develop, review and implement policies, SOPs ( Standard Operating Procedures) and associated technical documents as meaningful for capability.
  • Serve as authority, advocate and point of contact on system & process related issues within designated capability
  • Facilitate and participate in key governance forums
  • Collaborate with analytics lead to identify, implement and manage the key performance indicators metrics and dashboards
  • Continually assess the landscape and assess opportunities to improve, standardize or streamline the business capability
  • Owns the build/ assessment/ maintenance of the end to end capability (Process, System and Reports) lifecycle management, upgrade and enhancements and working with Information Systems as a key partner in delivery
  • Own the development/update for controlled documents, propose process/technology changes and implementation solutions
  • Own all relevant training material, updates, technology related to the systems/process. Partner with the appropriate training experts and establish pathways to assess and understand the educational needs of the capability audience
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of Access Management
  • Support recruitment, coaching, mentoring and development of the team members
  • Support vendor management


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of work experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of work experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of work experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in life science, computer science, business administration or related discipline
  • 6+ years' work experience in systems, business or project management in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech arena
  • 4+ years' experience in leading systems or analytics projects


Knowledge

  • 2+ years' experience with information technologies/information systems, analytics platforms and/or reporting technology
  • Strong understanding and experience in the use of performance management techniques, measures, problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry guidelines, Good Clinical Practice and legal/health system environment
  • Proficient in application software and analytical development methodologies in a validated system environment
  • Proficient in analytical and interpretation activities and able to present insights based on business insight and subject matter expertise to a wide variety of audiences in both written and verbal formats
  • Drug development and clinical trials processes
  • Clinical trial databases and applications
  • Effective working in a team/matrix environment
  • Experience in Medical Affairs is preferred
  • Strong project management experience
  • Specialist knowledge / experience in life sciences, computer science or a medically related field
  • General biopharmaceutical clinical research experience obtained working on clinical trials at a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company
