Financial Aid Counselor: Uses specialized knowledge of both Dartmouth and federal financing programs to counsel a diverse population of students from varied backgrounds and geographic areas in both undergraduate and graduate programs; provides personalized attention, communication, and counseling to financial aid students, applicants and families to assist them in resolving problems, clarifying discrepancies, and providing documentation to verify application information; interprets and explains the policies and procedures for award packaging, financing options, Dartmouth programs, etc.; communicates respectfully with both prospective and current students and their parents, to effectively convey the department's mission and values; and assists students with general financial aid questions, including those concerning student bills, posting of aid, check-in difficulties, and financial problems related to acclimation to a different culture. 50%
Program Support: Works closely with the Enrollment Operations team to coordinate technical support for the Financial Aid Office. Provides support for maintenance, testing, utilization, and modification of computer software and hardware in FAO ; researches and organizes data for use in reports and routine projects for the Director of Financial Aid and supports data collection for office reporting needs; designs report format and develops data queries and programs to respond to requests for information. 25%
Process Support: Provides technical and administrative support for office projects and processes such as application processes, federal verification, satisfactory academic progress, and office expense transaction review; runs and evaluates standard reports and processes on a regular basis such as error disbursement reports, check pattern, verification reports, EDE match reports, etc. 15%
Other Administrative Responsibilities: Revises financial aid awards for D-Plan pattern changes, outside scholarships, loan declines, etc.; assists in review and final approval of financial aid awards and revisions; and serves as back-up for all functions for other two counselors. 10%
