Job Summary

Amgen is searching for a Finance Manager that will help to support financial planning and analysis activities for the commercial team within US Region. The position will be based at the corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Finance Manager role p r o vi des f i nanc ia l ana l ys i s s e r v i c e s to the commercial teams driving insightful, timely and efficient product level financial decision making and resource allocation. They will p r e pare lo n g-range p la n s , a n n ual b u d g e t s , s tr a t e g i c as se ss men t s , in ve s tm e nt an a l y s i s , f o r e c a s ts and/ o r re v ie w ac t ual r e s ul t s o f o p e ra ti ons c o m p a red to f o r e c a s t s . They will identify op p o rtu n i t ie s f or o p e ra ti o n a l ef f i c ie nci e s and co s t s avi ngs w i th i n the f u n c ti onal a r ea , p resent th o s e op p o rtu n i t ie s to s e nior m a nag e r s , a n d a s s i s t i n i m p l e men ti ng th e m .

A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to understand and apply various principles and possess a deep knowledge of Amgen processes to solve a wide range of challenges, raise business issues, identify and implement process improvement opportunities, create partnership opportunities and execute short and long-term organizational goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, understand and communicate cost variance drivers, and establish effective working relationships. Foster deep partnership between the commercial and finance teams.
  • Lead financial expense planning processes for $2B of operating expenses for the Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecasts, and Long-Range Plan
  • Support the quarterly accounting close process for the US regional operating expenses
  • Prepare and present operating expense plans and results for various business partners in the US region, including functional and brand management
  • Complete management/project reports, variance analysis, and present results and recommendations to Senior Management.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree & 2 years of experience directly related to the job
OR
Bachelor's degree & 2 years of experience directly related to the job
OR
Associate degree & 10 years of experience directly related to the job
OR
High school diploma / GED & 12 years of experience directly related to the job

Preferred Qualifications

•BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or related field of study, with an MBA or CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years of financial accounting/analysis experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analysis skills with the ability to analyze data and present results to senior management in a professional, clear, and concise manner.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Solid technical finance skills and overall working knowledge of financial systems and tolls including Hyperion and SAP applications, and Proficiency in Excel a must.
