ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a curious and collaborative engineer, someone that is excited about working on new and innovative solutions utilizing technology that is at the forefront of the industry? You will have the opportunity to sharpen your skills in embedded Linux and real-time operating systems while learning technologies such as Linux Containers, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Wind River is looking for an experienced engineer to become a Field Applications Engineer to work with our major accounts in the growing Industrial, Medical, and Auto market segments. You will work closely with a Wind River Account Manager and strive to become the trusted technical advisor of our customers by understanding their business needs and addressing them through Wind River's products and services solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-sales Field Applications Engineer
  • Manage the technical needs of your assigned accounts
  • Utilize available resources to effectively manage customer product life-cycle needs
  • Serve as a single technical point of contact and trusted technical advisor to our new and existing customers
  • Support trade shows and seminars
  • Listen to customer's needs, architect solutions, and present the value proposition
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations
  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations
  • Ability to collaborate with customers on their architectural designs and whiteboard the solution
  • Manage and support customer proof of concepts and evaluations
  • Provide technical responses to customer RFP's and RFI's
  • Manage customer escalations and coordinate with the Wind River support and engineering organizations on resolving customer pre-sales and post-sales issues
  • Provide consistent market feedback to Wind River

ABOUT YOU

  • The candidate must have the following in order to be considered:
    • At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience using C/C++ in their professional career
    • Familiarity with networking fundamentals
    • Own a car and ability to drive to customers locally
    • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time within the US and Canada. (No other international travel is required. Weekend travel is rare.)
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Demonstrated self-starter and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Good presentation and public speaking skills
    • Demo development and delivery experience (internal and/or external)
    • Most important:
      • Positive attitude
      • Willingness to learn new technologies
      • Willingness to be part of an exciting industry and company!

    • The following skills are preferred but not required:
      • BSCS or BSEE
      • Embedded software development experience
      • Linux software development experience
      • Real-time system architecture and RTOS programming (ie. VxWorks, QNX, Integrity, or FreeRTOS)
      • Technical sales experience
      • Familiarity with networking fundamentals
      • Linux Container and Kubernetes programming
      • Knowledge of industrial, medical, and/or auto market
      • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, Bash, etc)
