About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. As part of Enterprise Infrastructure Systems (EIS) Application Hosting Shared Service team, responsible for WebSphere Application Server, Weblogic, IBM HTTP Server, Pivotal tcServer, GigaSpace Data Caching, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry shared service activities that include installing, configuring, maintaining, and tuning the application server clusters in the development, testing, stage, and production environments.


Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Collaborates with architects, engineering, project managers and applications teams to plan and coordinate changes
  • Partners with agile development and application teams to influence application modernization and migration to cloud platforms
  • Installs, configures, designs, and implements ELK (ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana) stack solution for Proactive Monitoring of Platform and application analytics
  • Installs and configures Docker and Docker orchestration tools (Swarm, Kubernetes )
  • Installs, configures and manages service tiles such as RabbitMQ, MySQL, Redis and Pivotal Cloud Cache on Pivotal Cloud Foundry platform
  • Automates platform upgrades, stem cell upgrades, and PCF management tasks such as Org creation and users onboarding using Concourse CI and PCF pipelines
  • Automates builds and deployments using Jython, WSadmin, tcsadmin and shell scripting
  • Performs WebSphere Application Server, tcServer, GigaSpace and Pivotal Cloud Foundry version upgrades and/or migration, applying fix packs and work with systems engineers for upgrades to operating systems and hardware
  • Configures New Relic dashboards for Pivotal Cloud Foundry Platform and application monitoring to find out the root cause analysis for performance and diagnose problems.
  • Installs Docker enterprise edition at scale and configures Docker logging design
  • Configures CI-CD pipelines for DDC deployments
  • Configures service discovery and load balancing with layer 7/interlock proxy
  • Sets up and maintains memory data grid, such as Apache Ignite or Grid Gain
  • Designs and implements SSL, Encryption services, and Siteminder


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of experience as a systems or infrastructure engineer or administrator


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 7+ years of experience as a systems or infrastructure engineer or administrator
  • Websphere administrator or equivalent certification
  • Splunk or equivalent logging tool certification
  • Any Openstack or RHEL certification
  • Experience in production support on CAAS and PAAS platforms
  • Experience in troubleshooting and analyzing performance issues of Docker, Kubernetes, WebSphere, tcServer, GigaSpace and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and administering:
    • Docker Data Centre with High availability on various IAAS platforms
    • Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) Compliance
    • WebSphere Application Server, Weblogic application server, IBM HTTP servers, tcServer, vfabric Webserver, Hyperic server, App Director, Tomcat and Apache webserver
    • New-relic, sysdig, dynatrace, datadog, Graphana/Prometheus, ELK, and Splunk
    • Automation using Shell, jython, tcsadmin and WSadmin scripting

  • Experience in setting up Docker orchestration tools (Swarm, Kubernetes) on IAAS, PAAS platforms and deploying applications
  • Experience in creating compute, network and storage resources in Helion OpenStack using cli, horizon dashboards, as well as automating those using scripts
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Experience in working with Jenkins or CI/CD pipeline for deployment automations
  • Strong experience with Redis, mongoDB, SQl databases
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Proficiency in Agile project management methodology, specifically within the infrastructure area
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
