About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division. This position will be responsible for all aspects of Microsoft stack based Infrastructure Services and Desktop Hardware. This includes research, design, test, and deploy technologies being researched by the desktop organization at American Airlines. Majority of the focus will be on the Desktop hardware and the peripherals that will be utilized to streamline the desktop infrastructure.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Perform lifecycle management for desktop/laptop/mobile equipment and peripherals
  • Research, design, test and deploy desktop/laptop/mobile equipment and Windows operating systems
  • Research, design, test, and deploy MacBooks and peripherals
  • Test, validate, install, support the enterprise desktop image
  • Test, validate, update desktop hardware BIOS versions, Firmware versions, and Driver versions peripherals
  • Recommend best technology desktop hardware for Business need
  • Perform as third level support for other internal IT support resources
  • Maintain communication with customers through different channels
  • Create and maintain procedural documents and reports
  • Learn and work on changing technologies

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 1 year of experience on Windows 10 OS
  • 3 years of experience as a Desktop Hardware Engineer

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience as a Desktop Hardware Engineer
    • Experience with Microsoft System Center, and other automation processes and solutions
    • Experience with computer performance tools (PCBenchmark, Futuremark)
    • Experience with computer monitoring tools (HWMonitor, HWiNFO, Windows Resource Monitor)
    • Understanding of networking fundamentals and working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, etc.
    • Experience with imaging technology and processes
    • Experience with virtualization technologies
    • Proficient in authoring, editing, and presenting technical documents
    • Experience in supporting a DevOps environment using tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
    • Ability and desire to troubleshoot complex issues and explore details
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous technical situations
    • Ability to draft and formalize technical documentation
    • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
    • Experience in Agile methodologies
    • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
    • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, customer service and negotiation skills
    • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
    • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
