The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Department provides technical expertise, mentorship and support for the management of EH&S programs at Amgen.

Within the EH&S Department, the Environmental Area provides expertise for the compliance with the environmental regulations, permitting and mentorship in different conservation initiatives of sustainability.

The EH&S Manager position at the Environmental Area include duties for programs design, development and implementation. Is recognized as a technical EH&S subject matter expert within Amgen. Independently take actions with impact in the areas of responsibility and programs.

Amgen Manufacturing, Limited is searching for an EH&S Manager for the Air Quality Program at the Environmental Area. The responsibilities of this position will include owning the air program (i.e. regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives), working on projects and other EH&S programs, as assigned, and be the EH&S representative for the buildings or areas assigned.

Specific responsabilities include but are not limited to:

Regulations:
  • Ensure compliance with air permit conditions and federal and local regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate existing and new regulations' impact upon Amgen operations.
  • Develops new program requirements and implement changes as necessary and provides recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare and submit required Air Program reports.
  • Ensure quality of data for the reports.
  • Maintain the air emissions inventory for the site. Coordinate and supervise Air Program related projects, initiatives and tasks by site's areas and contractors.
  • Perform and complete internal audits, investigations and analysis related with the Air Program.
  • Provide mentorship and expertise to the areas in terms of the Air Program.
  • Assess emissions reduction or sustainability opportunities for the site.
  • Prepare and maintains program metrics.
  • Prepare and submit SARA (311, 312 & 313) reports. Ensure quality of data for the reports.
  • Maintain and coordinate EHSS records and documentation.


Agencies

  • Primary work with EH&S regulatory agencies.
  • Be recognized as a program liaison to external agencies.
  • Prepare for and conduct inspections with agency representatives.
  • Prepare reports for audits and inspections.


Support Amgen Operations:

  • Support and review EH&S investigations.
  • Perform and support EH&S risks assessment process.
  • Participate in Amgen Air Program Global Network.
  • Participate in program meetings with area's representatives.
  • Evaluates current and future operations to resolve strategic initiatives regarding the development and implementation of EH&S programs.


Training & Procedures:

  • Make recommendations and provide resources for the development and implementation of EH&S programs training for Amgen staff.
  • Implement and detail EH&S procedures/policies for Amgen operations.


Projects:

  • Analyze existing and future processes; assess regulatory impact of future changes, and benchmark against industry standards to determine solutions to reduce EH&S impacts upon Amgen projects.
  • Prepare and submit applicable projects permit applications on time with complete and accurate information.
  • Participate and be vocal in projects related meetings, as needed.


Basic education & experience:

Master's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences and 3 - 5 years of experience in Air Program management. Major source Title V permit experience desirable.

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences and 6 - 8 years of experience in Air Program management. Major source Title V permit experience desirable.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficient in Spanish and English communication.
  • Good technical and business writing skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork oriented.
  • Advancement requires increased independent actions, responsibilities, program development and project management.
