The Director of Retirement will develop and lead strategic initiatives related to retirement programs, including the 401K and pension programs.  


What you'll do
  • Oversees all retirement benefits programs, including program/policy development, pension administration, 401(K) administration, and regulatory compliance
  • Interacts with internal departments, including Legal, Tax, Accounting, Treasury, and outside firms such as actuaries, consultants, and banks, to identify and resolve issues and facilitate transactions.  This position also interfaces with the benefit committees in each of the unions.
  • Collaborates with Labor Relations on retirement proposals for labor negotiations
  • Leads and develops a team of pension, 401(k), and compliance professionals at various levels by providing strategic direction and leadership, and ensuring that the team is engaged and collaborativ
  • Provides consultation to senior leaders on strategic retirement trends and workforce analytics
  • Oversees and manages departmental budget/forecasting, ensuring accuracy and accountability for overall resource management
  • Ensures processes are compliant with all legal and government regulations
All you'll need for success
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field; MBA preferred
  • 7 years of experience leading teams, including remote team members
  • In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in retirement programs for the US and Canada, including defined benefit and defined contribution plans
  • Specific experience leading a team of retirement professionals
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, as well as proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and influence at the most senior levels of the organization
  • Extensive experience with vendor management
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while simultaneously managing multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of legal regulations related to pension plans and retirement
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills, with the ability to optimize the use of all available resources and deliver on multiple priorities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem resolution skills; ability to exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively and clearly communicate a strategic and tactical vision to all levels within the organization, as well as with external agencies and business partners
