Position Summary:

Responsible for the management and execution of the commercial contracting and wholesaler operations while overseeing the third party-administrator (TPA) and pricing team to ensure compliance with all government price (GP) reporting and contracting obligations. Collaborates with cross functional partners, including finance, supply chain, account manager team, and others.

Primary Responsibilities:

Access Strategy

  • Contributes to the development of analytical tools and models to assess deal vs. no deal scenarios as it relates to contracting in the areas of (Commercial and Part D), Government (DoD, VA, State Medicaid), PBM, and long term care (LTC) markets.
  • Builds current knowledge of market access trends and proactively adapts internal and field tools when relevant.
  • Participates in the goal setting process for market access performance and contributes to defining metrics and processes for real-time measurement in collaboration with leadership to optimally identify pricing and contracting opportunities.

Pricing Strategy

  • Leads and conducts pricing research to support the launch and evolution of the Acadia product portfolio.
  • Supports pricing, contracting and related discount forecasting, as well as participates in the creation and production of all access and reimbursement related tracking materials for these segments.
  • Develops awareness of U.S. healthcare market and government policy changes from a pricing and reimbursement perspective and implications on all key stakeholders, including payers, to help inform commercial strategies.
  • Participates with team in identifying, analyzing and defining pricing and contract strategy around:
    • Medicare Part D bids
    • Commercial
    • Medicaid
    • Federal-VA/DoD
    • Long-Term Care
    • New and Emerging payers
  • Participates in developing strategy around government contracting (i.e. sub-ceiling analysis-VA, Medicaid supplemental rebate agreements). Collaborates with cross functional team to ensure all government contracts are executed in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the creation of managed markets contract templates. Serves as point of contact on A & R team with legal on contract discussions and negotiations.
  • Responsible for establishing Pricing Committee (PC) and operating guidelines for PC. Ensures proper documentation and tracking of all PC processes and materials.
  • Leads gross to net model calculations as well as managing government price reporting vendor. Ensures that all government price reporting processes and procedures are well-documented.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely submissions of all government price reporting obligations, including but not limited to: AMP, BP, FCP and 340B/PHS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

Bachelor's degree in finance, health care, business administration or related; Master's degree preferred. Requires 10 years of progressively responsible experience within managed markets, access, and healthcare policy related functions in industry and/or consulting. Also requires 5 or more years directly in a leadership role.

Must possess:

  • Proven success in developing and executing strategy through understanding of the market and industry.
  • Experience supporting both in-line and launch of new products, exceeding formulary access and market share goals.
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement, clinical coding/terminology, managed care and healthcare policy.
  • Ability to build relationships with Managed Care, Trade, and Policy executives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross functional matrix environment.
  • Good understanding of regulatory, legal, compliance requirements for success.
  • Strong analytical abilities and project planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal, written, and presentation form.
  • Skilled at negotiating with business partners or management and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Proficient at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time.

Scope:

Establishes strategic plans for designated function(s). Develops methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of functional area and related organizational objectives. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional area and may impact the long term success of the Company.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel by car or airplane independently overnight up to 10% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues. Must be based in home office, San Diego, CA.
