Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director for Global Sales, the Director role leads, manages, and develops Polar Air Cargo's regional key Pinnacle and Preferred accounts. In concert with the Regional Vice Presidents in Americas and Asia Pacific, the position is responsible for direct sales and negotiations with our key customers. He/She is responsible for achieving target revenue, volume commitments and the delivery of strategic account objectives as prescribed in the customer strategy and account plan across all regions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate initiatives and progress on each Key Account to the sales force and operations teams every month to fully brief the sales force of Key Accounts Activity and progress and requirements.
  • Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
  • Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
  • Consistently engage with key accounts with face to face meetings on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing all key account RFP/RFQs together with the revenue management team.
  • Engage with Polar sales managers for opportunities both locally and nationwide to support key account requirements.
  • Work hand and hand together with sales and ground operation teams to troubleshoot irregularities and service related issues on behalf of our key accounts.
  • Attend and engage in quarterly business review meeting with key accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a management role, with 7-9 years' experience in a sales or procurement position
  • A proven record of performance in sales with key account management experience as well as management of a team.
  • Must have experience managing a revenue budget as it relates to customer growth or customer revenue.
  • An experienced and proven negotiator with strong decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills together with strong commercial acumen. Ability to spot and interpret market trends.
  • Effective communication skills in spoken and written English are essential.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to provide direct feedback in profit and revenue performance
  • An operations background, especially in the aviation industry is a plus
  • Ability to form relationships within the airline and freight forwarding industry
  • Focus on dotted line relationships with Regional and Local account managers
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international at least 50% of the time.
