The College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at Eastern Washington University invites applications for an Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 4 in the Department of Mathematics to serve as the Lab Manager for Eastern's Developmental Mathematics Lab.

The ICST 4 will be responsible for:

  1. Manager - Developmental Mathematics Lab
  2. Explaining and relating mathematical concepts to students enrolled in developmental mathematics courses;
  3. Counsel students on core concepts to help them reach proficiency;
  4. Assist students in developing and tracking their personal learning goals and strategies;
  5. Establish a secure environment in the lab;
  6. Track and communicate student progress;
  7. Maintain Developmental Mathematics (MTHD) software on lab computers;
  8. Hire, supervise, train and mentor student support staff and tutors;
  9. Work collaboratively with Developmental Mathematics faculty in curriculum development and setting course goals and objectives;
  10. Attend staff meetings and trainings;
  11. Take initiative to improve student learning in the lab setting;
  12. Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to increase student success;
  13. Administer EWU's Math Placement Assessment program;
  14. Work with department operations manager on MTHD business and finances.
  15. Maintain the Math Placement Assessment website;

Conditions of Employment
  • Position works a “cyclic” schedule involving 10 months of work time each year as described in the Work Schedule section of our job posting (Dev'l Math Lab Mgr Job Posting). Work schedule to be determined by supervisor, with advance notice provided for schedule changes whenever needed.

  • Start Date: Position is available now, and the hired candidate could start anytime during spring quarter. The latest start date that we would consider is 09/14/2020.

The latest start date that we would consider is 09/14/2020.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br /> <p> </p> <img src="https://analytics.click2apply.net/v/Ma1bPbUDq6y4HoMyuA4gP"> <br/><br/><strong>Required Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Science or Education; preference may be given to candidates with a Masters' degree;</li> <li>Background in and understanding of core mathematical concepts;</li> <li>Experience with tutoring or teaching students in developmental and/or core mathematical concepts;</li> <li>Familiarity with computers and developmental mathematics software, preferrably with <span class="caps">ALEKS</span>;</li> <li>Ability to learn new computer programs (including, but not limited to, Banner, EagleNet, etc.);</li> <li>Ability to relate complex mathematics to students in a developmental environment;</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and verbal skills;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel-Publisher unnecessary);</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment to include experience working with faculty, staff and student tutors;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is sensitive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff administrators and the public.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>: <ul> <li>Master's degree in a relevant area;</li> <li>Familiarity with <span class="caps">ALEKS</span> software;</li> <li>Familiarity with Banner and EagleNet;</li> <li>Familiarity and understanding of mathematics education research and best practices for mathematics education;</li> <li>Experience as the instructor of record for courses in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Science or Education</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p> </p> <br /><br /><br /><br /><p>PI117658752</p>
