Data Governance is a discipline that is becoming increasingly important in J.P. Morgan Chase.  The mData Product team supports the development of tools and services to support all CCB Data Governance activities.  CCB Data Governance as a whole is responsible for collecting meta-data, management of data elements, creation of rules to monitor the quality of data elements and driving identified data quality issues through to resolution.

 

The mData Feature Lead will work within the Product Owner team to help drive the development of CCB Data Governance tools. The Feature Lead will work with the Area Product Owner to implement changes to support published strategy that takes into consideration goals for Data Governance and its clients. They will work closely with IT teams to ensure that progress against the strategy and releases is maintained. The Feature Lead will be expected to communicate progress against projects to a wide range of audiences from users to leadership.

 

This highly collaborative position requires an individual who has demonstrable product management and ownership skills. The ideal candidate understands that product management is cross-functional and involves development, research, client interaction, architecture, process mapping, resource planning, and general awareness of goals versus constraints. The position will be responsible for driving development according to the roadmap and providing subject matter expertise.

 

This role will specifically deal with the data quality tools used in Data Management, inclusive of both business and technical data quality.  We are working in both the traditional data quality space and expanding data quality at scale with the inclusion of statistical data quality.  The role requires both the technical skills to work in the data environments, but also the ability to work with business customers on how the data quality tools can drive value.

 

Key responsibilities:

·        Maintaining progress against product roadmaps and balancing internal and client demands against release schedules

·        Collecting tactical requirements, from both internal and client sources, translating them into actionable material for the release and shepherding through the delivery process to meet client expectations

·        Helping clients solve problems and craft viable solutions that can be delivered according to the published plan

·        Working closely with IT partners to ensure that product demands are understood from a development perspective and that products are delivered according to a published timeline

·        Within the Agile Scrum development methodology:

o   Understanding the true business need through working with the end user community

o   Creating and documenting user stories to clearly convey requirements and acceptance criteria to developers and testers

o   Active participation in the agile team including agile scrum ceremonies and meetings

o   Escalating impediments appropriately

·        Working with the UAT testing team to match design requirements with produced results

·        Working with the training team to produce and deliver training materials

·        Developing communication and presentations to executive leadership

Required Experience:

·        Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field

·        1 to 5 years of product or related experience

  • Experience with Agile methodology and working with Agile teams

·        Experience in taking product requirements and other customer-facing material and converting into agile epics and stories to support the development lifecycle.

·        An understanding of the software development cycle, agile development methodology and big data management

·        Proven success working with a variety of internal/external teams at various levels of management

·        Experience with technical concepts and working with technical staff as needed

·        Ability to work independently and develop creative ways to achieve goals

·        Experience with JIRA or other tools used to support Agile development methodology.

·        Knowledge of meta data collection tools and rule execution engines and how they may be used within a data quality environment preferred.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint

  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders across functions
