About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. The Operations Research department functions as an internal consulting group providing quantitative analysis and decision support for business units throughout the airline.  Assignments within OR typically involve quantitative and qualitative analysis of a business situation, model prototyping, development of recommendations, and presentation of those recommendations. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in operations research, industrial engineering, or mathematics

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • SAS or R programming
    • Integer programming or non-linear optimization
    • Revenue management
    • Crew, network or fleet planning
    • Data Mining/Big Data concepts and tools, including prior experience with recommender systems and/or text mining
  • Familiarity with the airline/travel industry
  • Demonstrated aptitude for logical analysis, problem identification, and problem solving as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills, including Data Science, Simulation, Linear, Non-linear, and Integer Programming
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, C# or VB.Net
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Expertise in R statistical package and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Shiny
  • Experience using forecasting and statistical methods, such as time-series analysis, regression, classification, and clustering in real-world applications
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to different types of audiences, including non-technical groups, and prepare high quality presentations
