About the Job

If your love of building relationships is only outweighed by your passion for numbers, a career with ISEC in Business Development is the place for you! Youre responsible for the research and legwork necessary to identify the projects we should bid and quarterback the effort to complete and submit the bid proposal. In addition, youll work side by side a dedicated team of estimators to ensure the numbers encompass the full scope of work and make sure what were bidding is as accurate as possible to avoid long-term pitfalls during installation. When youre not strategizing bids, youll be the face of ISEC as the main POC with the customer, working to build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients in the commercial construction industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Research, identify, and actively pursue upcoming construction projects that would be a fit for ISECs scopes of work, with a heavy focus on laboratory furniture and lab/medical equipment projects targeting private, commercial, college/university, hospitality, event center, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech and government markets.
  2. Prepare and finalize bid proposals to clients.
  3. Provide pre-construction architectural assistance and budget support to clients.
  4. Facilitate bid proposal and document controls throughout sales life cycle and provide proper turnover to estimating and operations.
  5. Assess project risks, logistics, contract documents, vendor, subcontractor and competitors to build overall sales strategy.
  6. Responsible for achieving regional sales, profit and revenue goals and objectives.
  7. Serve as the direct point of contact with General Contractors & Construction Managers.
  8. Client networking through customer meetings, industry events & participation local construction affiliations.
  9. Develop and maintain client relationships to the highest level possible.
  10. Must be able to utilize market data, trends and forecasting to qualify project leads.
  11. Perform formal Sales presentations to clients.
  12. Develop and communicate strategies utilizing internal teams to minimize risk and maximize profit and closure opportunities.
  13. Perform all necessary project follow-up, status tracking, closure and price recaps.
  14. Negotiate ISECs project Terms and Conditions into final contract.
  15. May perform other duties as required or directed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 3 years of experience selling architectural woodwork, ornamental metals, doors, frames & hardware, specialties, laboratory furniture, and/or medical equipment
  • Have established General Contractor contacts in similar field.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Commercial construction industry experience
  • 2+ years experience in an outside sales position

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to navigate large sets of construction documents, including a thorough knowledge of how to read architectural drawings and blueprints.
  • Proven experience handling the sales of projects $1 million and larger.
  • Knowledge of General Construction or relevant subcontracting construction knowledge.
  • Experience negotiating, relationship building and closing sales opportunities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, helping direct multiple team members and prioritize changing demands.
  • Strong math skills; ability to quickly manipulate pricing to extrapolate cost, margin and breakouts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Bluebeam and PowerPoint.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a team member
