​This job is a member of the Purchasing Team within the Finance Division.  Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategic programs which meet the needs of the internal stakeholders while addressing pricing, acquisition, total cost, lead-time and supply.

What you'll do
  • Represent the company in business transactions with both internal and external organizations
  • Create, negotiate, implement and manage long term purchase agreements while effectively developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers
  • Develop, issue, and analyze catering RFPs and assist with start-ups for spoke cities and international start-ups as needed
  • Develop and promote catering and catering security supplier strategies, leading negotiations and contracting engagements
  • Procure catering and catering security services to meet with expectations of customers
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve system scheduling & pricing issues
  • Analyze influences on CPI, including both product and labor inflation
  • Work closely with internal American Airline customers and stakeholders to understand their business needs, objectives, product/service requirements and the broader operational processes
  • Measure and track supplier performance for the commodity; resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate management levels both internally and externally
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training

  • Knowledge of Source to Pay systems
  • Strong project management skills
  • Understanding of Information Technology (IT)
  • Process Mapping abilities
  • Supplier Risk Analysis

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    • Skilled in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • ​A potential team leader with strong communication skills
    • Understanding of supply chain concepts, with work experience applying those concepts
    • Negotiating and influencing skills
    • Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative
    • Business understanding, particularly in project management, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis
    • Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
    • SAP/Ariba knowledge
    • AirVision knowledge or experience a plus
    • Proficient in Excel
    • High ethical standard
    • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
