The Commercial Insights Senior Manager is responsible for delivering analytics and insights to support brand planning and strategy for Amgen's Respiratory (Asthma, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis) portfolio within the US and Global teams. The individual in this role will be responsible for delivering analysis using a wide range of data sources (e.g. claims data, demand data, electronic medical records data, etc) to provide stakeholders with a holistic, objective, and detailed understanding of the opportunities within and performance of the Respiratory markets.

The individual in this role will employ techniques required to synthesize insights from multiple data sources and build an integrated picture of brand performance. They will champion an insights-driven strategy and objective evidence-based decision making and partner with the brand team to provide actionable recommendations.

This person will work across analytics functions (Data Science, V&A, SFE, etc) to look for better ways of working, synergies in efforts and ensure communication across the various functions.

This position will report to the Neuroscience & Respiratory Commercial Insights Director within the Commercial Data and Analytics (cDNA) group.

Job Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and deliver analysis using complex data sources including HCP-level TRx data, demand data, claims data, electronic medical records data, etc. to generate a holistic, objective, and detailed understanding of market trends and to drive investment decisions and define commercial strategies and tactics
  • Support key annual activities, including Quarterly Business Reviews, Business Cases and Sales Meetings by providing objective, data-driven insights
  • Work with the Brand teams / Sales leadership to help translate Brand Strategy in to actionable metrics that can be tracked by the Sales force
  • With limited oversight, deliver regular and accurate assessments of Aimovig's performance to US and global commercial leadership, clearly articulating the story from the data and the implications for the business
  • Generate and explain complex analysis plans and results to stakeholders including, but not limited to, marketing, sales, finance, and pricing
  • Work cross-functionally with data science and data strategy teams to optimally leverage multiple global data sources to deliver insights to US and global stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to prioritize business needs and enable effective execution of analytics, ensuring compliance with all applicable SOPs
  • Enhance team capabilities by researching and implementing new analytical tools, internal and external best practices, new data sources, etc.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize the analytics asks and deliver based on the agreed benefit to the business.
  • Support the creation of best-in-class forecast models in partnership with forecasting colleagues, as well as build strong connections with the forecasting team


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of analytics experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of analytics experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated analytical skills-understands the strengths and limitations of different analytical approaches and their findings
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Ability to think strategically to support key business decisions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment across different functional groups
  • Proven project management skills and experience in prioritizing multiple responsibilities, tasks and projects, whilst simultaneously meeting multiple stakeholder needs
  • Strong understanding of the latest developments, unmet medical needs and opportunities in Respiratory preferred
  • Strong understanding of the latest developments in the biopharmaceutical industry, Health Care Providers' drug decision-making processes, and/or DTC or Physician Relationship Marketing analytics
  • Deep working knowledge of marketing analytics in the pharmaceutical industry (IQVIA Xponent, IQVIA, DDD/NPA/NSP, EMR claims data etc.)
  • Significant experience with the various data sources/providers and the relative strengths/limitations of each
  • Expertise in automated data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
  • Expertise in database languages (e.g. SQL (essential), R (beneficial))
  • Experience with advanced spreadsheets, modeling software, reporting software, and database design
