Commercial Banking (CB) serves more than 30,000 clients, including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, and not-for-profit entities with annual revenues generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion.  The Firm’s broad platform positions the Commercial Bank to deliver extensive product capabilities – lending, treasury services, investment banking, and asset management – to meet our clients’ domestic and international financial needs.

Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) exists within Commercial Banking and provides lending servicing functions to each of the firm’s four lines of business.  These functions include loan documentation, closing and funding, payment and fee processing, syndicated/bilateral loan, trade processing, credit administration, and collateral perfection and management.

 

The Structured Products Strategic Initiatives and Quality team is responsible for supporting an evolving landscape of client expectation and product complexities.  Currently, many tasks focused on strategic/business initiatives and quality control fall on production staff for planning and delivery.  The Quality Control (QC) Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of quality reviews performed on CIB and CB loan closing operational processes.  The Specialist will evaluate, identify, and report any inconsistences between the legal loan documentation, regulatory or compliance documentation, other internal systems, and finally the loan processing system. 

 

Key responsibilities:           

·         Perform the quality control function across key closing processes focusing primarily on Loan IQ deal setup

·         Build expertise over time and be able to apply foundational principles to additional disciplines

·         Ensure proper controls are in place and updated accordingly to minimize operating risk

·         Manage and monitor exception reporting and KPI’s

·         Engage technology partners to help drive database functionality or stability improvements

·         Build effective relationships with Operations, Control, and Technology

·         Prepare ad hoc reports for the control organization, audit, or business partners when requested

·         Research, analyse and assimilate data as required for various projects

·         Assist with the implementation of CORE

·         Participate in discussion aimed at improving the overall quality environment within WLS

·         Participate in internal working groups as required representing the QC team

·         Actively participate in organizational initiatives working with other team members


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of financial services, audit, accounting control, regulatory, compliance, or equivalent experience is preferred

  • Financial services industry knowledge with regulatory practices, including lending, loan processing, and support operations

  • Demonstrated decision-making skills

  • Accurate and attentive to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to probe sensitive issues while maintaining the highest level of integrity and objectivity

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work;  handle multiple tasks concurrently

  • Productivity and flexibility through shifting priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to operate in team based environment sharing information with co-workers and staff

  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access is a plus 

  • Familiarity with Loan IQ, ICRD, Ivault, Dealworks is a plus

  •  Experience reading and interpreting loan and compliance documentation is a plus
