Commercial Banking (CB) serves more than 30,000 clients, including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, and not-for-profit entities with annual revenues generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion.  The Firm’s broad platform positions the Commercial Bank to deliver extensive product capabilities – lending, treasury services, investment banking, and asset management – to meet our clients’ domestic and international financial needs.


Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) exists within Commercial Banking and provides lending servicing functions to each of the firm’s four lines of business.  These functions include loan documentation, closing and funding, payment and fee processing, syndicated/bilateral loan and trade processing, credit administration and collateral perfection and management.

 

Loan & Agency Operations is part of WLS responsible for operational support of multiple lines of business with tailored client needs ranging from bilateral to large syndicated loan agreements. This Vice President role is responsible for a staff of ~40 account managers (with 3 managers as direct reports) supporting several Commercial Bank lines of business across a vast range of internal and external stakeholders including clients, business partners, and the extended WLS staff & leadership.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of ~40 staff who are responsible for transaction processing and client support.  
  • Manage the professional development of staff through effective leadership by providing coaching and feedback, performance appraisals, training, promotion compensation recommendation.
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of the department’s objectives.
  • Ensure all delegated transactions are completed and approved in a timely manner adhering to required guidelines.
  • Responsible for resolving escalation items received from the Account Managers.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place and updated accordingly minimizing operating risk.
  • New processes and enhancements: identify, develop, document, communicate and train.
  • Ensure optimal client service is delivered to our internal and external clients on a daily basis.
  • Create a culture of teamwork, issue resolution, and escalation transparency. 

Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to manage a client facing operations team supporting a heavily nuanced financial product.
  • Strong leadership qualities; cultural change champion; collaborator. 
  • Ability to create and maintain best in class client service principles across staff.  
  • Track record for developing staff, implementing a local recruitment strategy, and talent retention.
  • Existing understanding of loan syndications (or ability to quickly assimilate).
  • Prior success in supporting a multi-faceted operations team with business engagement and client experience focus.
  • Ability to think/act strategically and influence business decisions.
  • Possesses a natural ability for developing strong and mutually beneficial working partnerships.
  • Fosters a collaborative team environment within and across functional organizations.
  • Communicates and presents fluently and with confidence. 
  • Strong analytical, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Results driven; proactive; ability to lead and drive execution.
  • Methodical approach to identifying and solving issues/pain points.
