Audit Department Description

JPMC’s Audit Department, which is comprised of over 1,200 auditors globally, reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and is further accountable to the Chairman and CEO, senior management and regulatory agencies. Audit is an independent risk assessment function established within the organization to evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of management’s system of internal control.


Team Description

Audit Professional Practices is responsible for supporting the Audit Department by maintaining and enhancing programs and processes that promote a standard of excellence and assist auditors in their day-to-day responsibilities. This includes managing the Audit Department’s core business processes, including audit policy/methodology and supporting tools, quality assurance, internal and external reporting, department technology infrastructure, training and campus recruiting. Additionally, Professional Practices is responsible for creating processes to ensure significant regulatory issues regarding Audit are identified and addressed appropriately.


The Board Management and Reporting team within Practices is responsible for organizing and analyzing data that is used to report audit results to the Board and senior level management. This includes compiling department performance metrics and reporting on audit activities for the firm’s Operating Committee and other firmwide forums. Additionally, the team reports on the audit plan and related reporting to the Audit Committee, and on the status of audit issues. The team also assists in the production of materials related to audit results and department activities as requested by regulatory agencies.


Position Description

While this is not a traditional audit role, the Vice President will actively engage with the leadership team across the Internal Audit department to enable efficient and effective delivery of department metrics and reporting. There are two key facets to the role. First is regular reporting of audit results and key performance indicators internally to senior management within the Audit Department as well as externally to various JPMC operational groups, regulators and the Audit Committee. The second is to lead transformation of the team’s process to include automated reporting solutions and ongoing assessment of the work product to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness for the team and department. Primary responsibilities for this transformational role include developing recommendations and articulating strategy for execution, and upon approval, leading implementation.



  • Lead elements of team and department reporting transformation; develop recommendations and work through implementation considerations for the team and other impacted parties.

  • Provide day-to-day execution and oversight for elements of the reporting function – initially using legacy reporting methods and tools as transition to the strategic state solutions is ongoing.

  • Generate reports from various sources, organize data outputs and produce recurring and ad hoc presentations to communicate audit plan execution and audit results.

  • Effectively communicate insights to management using written communication and visualization, where appropriate.

  • Analyze performance indicators for audit teams; communicate results across the department through written correspondence.

  • Oversee preparation of Board-level presentations of audit results and department performance

  • Apply reasonable quality assurance practices to ensure accuracy of output




  • Strong understanding of metrics and reporting processes

  • Detail oriented with strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Flexible, organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work independently

  • 7+ years work experience in reporting or audit/accounting experience is desired

  • 7+ years of experience working in MS Excel with large datasets and advanced functions is desired

  • Experience with data visualization and report automation tools such as QlikView is desired

  • Experience with SQL for data extraction or similar data acquisition tools is desired
