CCB - Strategic Analytics Fraud Risk Forecasting - Vice President

This Vice-President position in Fraud Risk Forecasting will be an integral part of the Chase Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Fraud Risk Center of Excellence, servicing as the lead for communicating to all stakeholders (including senior management) all the elements of the life cycle of Fraud, including attacks, detection, and fraud losses. Through close partnership with Fraud Strategy, Finance, and Operations Managers you will become an expert on the drivers of fraud, fraud trends, and will assist in strategy management and operations expense forecasting.  Through this role, you will identify the drivers of forecast variances, proactively communicate the changes in these drivers prior to loss recognition and bring visibility to these emerging trends in the constantly evolving fraud landscape.  As an expert in Fraud loss, you will also support the firm’s forecasting and budgeting processes and quarterly stress testing exercises. Through your work, you will support the integrity of our customers’ transactions.


In your first 30-60 days you will:

  • Compile an understanding of the fraud landscape throughout CCB.

  • Build familiarity with the drivers of fraud and our existing capabilities to reduce fraud losses.

  • Identify key stakeholders and partners and begin to formulate working relationships.

  • Begin to build subject matter expertise in the life cycle of fraud.


In the next 60-90 days you will:

  • Oversee the preparation of intramonth projections of losses and proactively identify drivers of variances to budget/forecasts for that month, quarter, and yearly estimates.

  • Manage the preparation and the communication of periodic budgets and forecasts, including forecasts for periodic stress testing and risk appetite exercises.

  • Begin to influence day-to-day fraud management activities of the team.

  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills, especially in a fast-paced environment.


Ongoing you will:

  • Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports for senior management and strategy partners.

  • Communicate to all stakeholders including executive management both verbally and in written documents the drivers of variance to fraud metrics, emerging fraud trends, and quantify projected fraud losses through the budget cycle.

  • Partner with Fraud strategy teams to understand the drivers of fraud losses, effectively manage the losses, quantify the impacts of business changes and changes in fraud patterns.

  • Coordinate with business partners to ensure downstream impacts of changes in fraud losses are reflected in operations expense forecasts and staffing plans.

  • Drive process improvement to enhance communication of fraud metrics.

  • Proactively take ownership of financial data and elevate any issues.

  • Complete ad-hoc research and analysis as needed.

  • 8+ years Risk management, Finance/Accounting, management consulting or other financial/analytic roles.

  • Strong Proficiency with Powerpoint (including PitchPro+), Excel, and Essbase.

  • Strong quantitative, critical thinking and analytic skills, excellent quantitative and analytical problem solving skills, confidence with finance and accounting concepts, strong ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex concepts in a fast- paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong technical and analytical background including hands-on experience with SAS, VBA, SQL and Unix; knowledge of Business Intelligence tools such as Cognos, Tableau, etc.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Statistics, Economics or similar quantitative disciplines.  Masters a plus.

  • Consumer banking, credit card or prior financial services experience with exposure to fraud risk or credit loss forecasting a plus.
