Coordinated Release Deployment Manager

Job Description

Release Test Management (RTM) is looking for an experienced leader to own and drive the readiness and deployment process for Consumer and Community Banking’s (CCB) Coordinated Releases (CR).  RTM is the central CCB IT release team accountable for managing these quarterly releases across seven lines of business.

Here, you’ll oversee application issues throughout: troubleshooting, maintaining, identifying, escalating and resolving them as needed. You’ll ensure that the production changes your team makes are made keeping best practices, lifecycle methodology and overall risk top of mind. Partnering with Infrastructure Service Support team members, you’ll dig into root cause analysis, production changes, budgetary and staffing issues.  You’ll also draw on your experience to manage and mentor people to drive strategic change, both within your team as well as in collaboration with team members across JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s global network of innovators.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives process that underpins readiness and deployment stages of CCB’s four annual Coordinated Releases (CRs)
  • Works with line of business release teams to ensure all CR content is tested and ready for deployment
  • Builds complex, integrated deployment plans and playbooks, and owns the major deployment milestones and timeline
  • Owns contingency process in the event of a catastrophic impact leading up to or during a CR deployment
  • Resolves change timing collisions potentially impacting a CR deployment
  • Organizes, staffs and operates the central CR command center during each deployment window and aligns the line of business command centers
  • Acts as the central communication lead during each CR deployment window, including standard release communication and progress reporting to senior level executives
  • Ensures incidents and issues are being addressed and resolved expeditiously
  • Authors and presents a formal retrospective after each CR, including meaningful observations, metrics and areas for improvement
  • Represents release management in the root cause analysis (RCA) process leading to implementation of lessons learned and corrective actions   
  • Supports Build and Test phases of the Coordinated Release process

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven expertise in application development and support environment with more than one technology and multiple design techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Understanding of risk controls and compliance to departmental and company wide standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals 
  • In-depth knowledge of technology Release, Change, Incident and Problem Management, including deploying software packages
  • Knowledge of modern deployment practices including Site Reliability Engineering and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tool chains
  • Hands on experience in large command and control technology operations (i.e., large program launch, merger conversions, high-severity incidents.)
  • Strong executive presence especially in high-stress situations
  • Deep experience in risk management and mitigation 
  • Experience designing or redesigning and improving critical, high value processes
  • Skilled at navigating the organization, building partnerships, and holding teams accountable
  • Ability to drive Change the Bank initiatives across the firm
  • People management or supervision experience a plus
