The Team:

Chase Data & Analytics Team unifies data and analytics talent across Chase to responsibly leverage data to build competitive advantages for our businesses with value and protection for customers. The Auto Data & Analytics organization utilizes data, analytics, visualization and advanced analytics to drive meaningful impacts for our customers, dealers and partners. The team provides expertise in big data, machine learning, business intelligence, visualization, web analytics, campaign/program analysis, experimental design, A|B testing, process automation, and optimization.


The Position:

We are seeking an Executive Director to head up the Auto Data Science and Robotics Automation Center of Excellence dedicated to Machine Learning, Automation for all auto businesses. This role will report directly to the Managing Director of Auto Data & Analytics and will be central to partnering with teams and business partners to quantify impacts, resolve issues and ensure we meet our business commitments and enabling our advanced analytics strategy.


This person should have a passion for data and analytics, and how to derive insights that can be used for better planning and decision making. Will be responsible for building a high performing team focused on customer analytics, segmentation, profitability and customer experience across our products and channels, utilizing Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation. 


This individual will lead the development of our analytic platforms, in partnership with our technology and data partners. This will require knowledge of our current and future analytic needs, team capabilities and skills, and a deeper understanding of industry-leading tools, trends and capabilities.


This individual will translate business questions, which will often be complex and typically don’t have a defined solution, into tasks, solve the problems and articulates to executives business plans and results of initiatives. This individual will be expected to assess and comprehend the situation, then develop an analytical plan encompassing data ETL, analytics, machine learning and story-telling and visualization solutions to proactively address it.


The individual will Interface directly with auto executives and establishes productive partnerships across the company in order to execute analytical projects which deliver insights that directly impact business outcomes i.e. financial, customer experience, etc. Typically leads other senior managers and/or large analytical teams.


  • Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field preferred: Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computing and Information Theory, Econometrics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, or Industrial / Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of producing and overseeing advanced analytics work. 8+ years people management experience, particularly in the advanced analytics space

  • Experienced in supporting organizations with the data and analytics with expertise in Prospecting and Base management, Pricing Optimization, Channel Adoption, Client Segmentation, and Operations support to drive market share growth, customer experience and profitability improvements

  • Proficient in identifying, buying, testing and deploying new data sources/types, analytical tools and capabilities that can drive insights from other Auto and other LOBs

  • Consulting orientation with ability to influence both internal & external business partners. Comfortable creating and presenting recommendations to senior management and capable of influencing/motivating multiple stakeholders

  • Demonstrated history of leading large strategic initiatives and identifying new opportunities to grow the business or improve the experience for our customers.

  • Process-and-controls-oriented leader, maintains a strong system of internal governance and controls with track record of sound judgment; acting with integrity; protecting our company, clients and customers

  • Demonstrated ability to build and mentor great teams that are diverse and cohesive. Ability to build trust-based relationships


Analytical Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, a subject matter expert in statistical techniques, such as data mining, predictive modeling, time series forecasting, text mining, dimensionality reduction, experimental design, A/B and multivariate testing, and matched pairs analytic and ETL techniques

  • Proficiency in data analysis and machine learning languages such as Python, Spark, Scala, SAS, Java, R, Julia.

  • Experience working with private and public Big Data platforms such as Hadoop, AWS, Azure.

  • Experience working with various databases (Teradeta, Oracle, Snoflake, S3, DataBricks), data lake querying engines (Dremio, Presto, AtScale) and database querying languages (SQL, HQL, SparkSQL)

  • Experience with data story-telling through dynamic and interactive reporting/visualization applications such as Tableau, Looker, Qlik
