Position Purpose

Responsible for managing the Dartmouth Biomedical Libraries' collections and supervising its document delivery services. Working in coordination with librarians and staff, ensures the collections of the Biomedical Libraries meet the needs of all academic departments, centers, and institutes of the Geisel School of Medicine, constituencies of clinical academic partners at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the Department of Biological Sciences, and collaboratively support Dartmouth College's professional schools, departments, and programs. Participates as a member of the management team of the Biomedical Libraries.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

• Facilitates the selection of materials purchased by the Biomedical Libraries, collaborates with faculty and liaison librarians to identify the best resources needed to support the curricular, research, and clinical missions of library users. Collaborates with other Dartmouth Library staff to provide coordinated collections services. (25%)
• Conducts environmental scans and assesses the collections needs, using data and other analysis, of the Dartmouth community in conjunction with the liaison librarians as needed; creates and implements plans to select and deselect materials regularly. (20%)
• Manages Biomedical Libraries collections budgets, keeping accurate records and producing budget analyses as required or requested. (15%)
• Supervises Biomedical Libraries Interlibrary Loan services: including managing staff, overseeing lending and borrowing, developing policies, procedures and workflows, and coordinating as needed with Dartmouth Library staff. (15%)
• Establishes relationships with vendors in conjunction with the Dartmouth Library Acquisitions unit to ensure licenses represent the multifaceted environments of Biomedical Libraries users. (10%)
• Serves on and supports College, Geisel, DHMC committees and initiatives as appropriate, representing the Libraries in relevant local, regional, and national organizations; participates in Dartmouth College Library task forces and committees as appropriate; keeps abreast of advances in biomedical sciences, academic librarianship, educational technologies, learning assessment, and pedagogy; and is involved in relevant national and regional professional organizations. (10%)
• Leads marketing efforts for the Biomedical Libraries collections, collaborating with the Biomedical librarians and staff to promote the library's collections. (5%)
