The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis

 

Overview

 

Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.


 

Description:

Commercial Card is a product organization within the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) LOB that provides card-based payment solutions to clients in North America.  The core finance team is responsible the end-to-end financial management including; month-end close, financial reporting and analysis, investment analysis and profitability modeling for the Commercial Card organization. The Commercial Card finance team plays an integral role in providing consultative support to help the organization achieve its overall growth and profitability targets.     


Position Responsibilities:

        • Provide end-to-end financial support for Commercial Card strategic partnerships through the following;
        • Implement financial tracking process reflecting incentive structure for partnership agreements
          • Ensure robust controls are established related to financial infrastructure for partnership deals
          • Execute on client incentive payments related to partnership contracts
          • Partner with business stakeholders to measure financial performance of partnership initiatives compared to the original business case and prepare updates to senior leadership
          • Drive business growth by effectively managing partnership activity
          • Work closely with risk, audit and control teams and coordinate any audits or reviews of the internal controls
          • In addition to partnerships the role will also be responsible for supporting;
          • Review of rebate calculations prepared by offshore team to ensure payments are consistent with contract terms
          • Support of process and control review of client rebate calculation, accrual rates and payments to ensure a strong control environment
          • Partner closely with Commercial Card offshore team to identify key challenges and implement process improvements
          • Support executive management reporting effort by creating and reviewing presentations for senior leadership
          • Identify and execute on opportunities for increased process automation


           

          Qualifications:


          • 7+ years relevant controller or finance experience (graduate degree in Finance/Accounting or CPA strongly preferred)
          • Project management skills - Candidate must be organized, have strong attention to detail and able to meet commitments and manage multiple tasks at the same time 
          • Strong understanding of process controls and demonstrated ability to identify control weaknesses and risk
          • Adaptable and capable of working effectively in a matrixed and rapidly changing environment
          •  Problem solving skills / Creative thought process - Candidate must demonstrate the ability to identify key issues, gather data to investigate those issues and develop actionable recommendations
          • Experience creating executive level PowerPoint presentations with high degree of visual appeal and concise written commentary
          • Excellent analytical skills with strong financial acumen
          • Great interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
          • Ability to synthesize financial information into concise, insightful actionable recommendations
          • Strong Microsoft Office skills
