About The Role:

The Chief of Staff understands ARC's objectives, sensitivities, customers and the team members that make it all work. In this role, you will partner directly with the CEO, providing operational, administrative and c-suite communication support to facilitate effective decision-making and implementation across the organization. You will also provide support to the Executive Team and the Board of Directors for both day-to-day work flow and special projects, as needed. You will use your proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to drive initiatives and build partnerships across functions and stakeholders. Additionally, you will establish trusted relationships across the extended management team and key external leaders, providing a polished communication framework to inform and influence; serving as an extension of the CEO in staying connected to key leaders.

The Chief of Staff is an extremely well-organized, highly motivated and adaptable strategist and implementer with excellent communication skills, who excels at bridge building across multiple constituencies. Things you are responsible for simply do not fall through the cracks. Your position requires superior attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You anticipate the needs of those you support, and develop and execute on plans to ensure the Board and Executive Office run smoothly. You are a creative and forward-looking thinker with versatile ideas and a willingness to be both a sounding board and a thought partner for the CEO.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Maximize the CEO's reach by managing projects and initiatives on behalf of the Executive Office, and by ensuring time is scheduled appropriately, managing competing priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Attend meetings and calls with or on behalf of CEO. Share information and capture notes electronically; ensure appropriate flow of communications. Manage follow-up commitments and action items to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Communicate directly, and on behalf of the CEO, with Board members, their Executive Assistants, top customers and key external stakeholders. Manage CEO's correspondence and social media presence.
  • Serve as administrator for Diligent Boardbooks, the portal that ARC uses for BOD and Committee documents as well as sensitive internal communications. This involves preparing and posting documents in an accurate and timely manner and ensuring the site is up to date. Keep users current on any new enhancements to Diligent, coordinate training and manage user access as required.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Secretary on Board of Directors and Committee Meeting agendas, documentation and minutes.
  • Ensure smooth operations of all administrative tasks of the Executive Office in support of the CEO, Executive Team and at times, the Strategy Team. This includes calendar management, travel arrangements, meeting prep and document management, expense reports, etc. Provide similar support to CHRAO and CFO; also to Chairman of the Board when requested.
  • Provide leadership to the Executive Events Manager; ensure flawless planning and execution of all executive events to achieve key business objectives.


You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 7+ years supporting Executive Leadership
  • Experience in offsite Board of Director meeting planning
  • Exceptional, proven technological skills, including proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Track record of consistently meeting deadlines and due dates
  • Ability to work in the Arlington office and be present during the business hours of 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Ability to travel, as required.
