The Commercial Banking (CB) Control Report and Data Governance Associate will be responsible for evaluating, delivering and maintaining a controls and reporting/data management framework supporting CB’s Anti-Money Laundering & Know-Your-Customer (CB AML/KYC) organization.  This position will report directly to the Control Report Data Governance Manager to support a best-in-class control environment for CB’s AML/KYC regulatory reporting, data management and analytics.  Influencing the Control Report (CR) development and evaluating the data quality and construct of CB’s suite of CRs, as well as maintaining a close working relationship with CB’s Finance & Business Management (F&BM) and sub-LOBs will be a central activity. The successful candidate will be well versed in data management and analytics and approach the role looking for constant improvement opportunities for standardization and consistency across the enterprise.



  • Effectively manage the CR inventory with information on each report’s control function, data and information flow, recipient groups, escalation process, etc.; and identify opportunities for process improvement.

  • Partner with and maintain an active dialogue among our partners in CB Policy, F&BM, and the sub-LOB space to facilitate information and knowledge flow.

  • Understand and become familiar with the various CB data sources, platforms and tools (i.e. EDH, Qlik Dashboards, Party Central, Navigator, CDD, etc.).

  • Proactively coordinate the data needs with F&BM in anticipation of global Financial Crime Reporting (FCR) questionnaire responses and submission deadlines.

  • Streamline and optimize the sharepoint storage requirements for control reports and FCR documentation.

  • Assist in the design and construct of a CR Metrics Dashboard to creatively synthesize and present information that will enable Sr Executives in CB to have a comprehensive view of the control environment.

 Knowledge - Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly comprehend operational risk concepts, evaluate design of control reports and their effectiveness in measuring the control subject matter, identify gaps and weakness in controls.

  • Experienced and comfortable working with databases, familiarity with database concepts and lingo.

  • Ability to understand and interpret the impact of policy and procedural changes and its implications on the control environment.

  • Excellent time management and planning skills along with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to review documentation and provide executive summary overviews and trending analysis.

  • A relationship builder who can establish trust and credibility across the organization and the region.

  • Strong presentation, communications and listening skills.

  • Analytical and organized with a systematic thought process.
  • Action-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with fluid regulatory and business requirements.



  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills to develop relationships across CB and CIB [through the newly formed Wholesale KYC Operations (WKO)], throughout the region and at multiple levels of the organization.Demonstrate strong AML/KYC and data knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience required. 
  • Prior exam management, audit or consulting experience preferred.
  • Self-starter and results-oriented individual that can deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Advanced user knowledge of excel required (i.e. ability to efficiently review and analyze MIS data requests by performing internal and intelligent checks via formulas, pivots, and other data manipulation).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Compliance, Risk/Controls, Exam Management or Audit within a Corporate Banking business of a financial institution (or this same experience obtained with a reputable financial consulting firm or public accounting firm).
