The Associate is responsible for supporting the Treasury finance function within Consumer & Community Banking (CCB). This opportunity challenges the candidate to provide strategic vision related to asset-liability management (ALM) in order to build next generation quantitative models and analytical frameworks utilized in pricing and balance sheet management.

This position will have core treasury and balance sheet responsibilities across interest rate risk, liquidity management, pricing, and the capital stack for the Consumer & Business Banking (CBB) line of business which comprises of more than $650B of deposits and $25B of loans.

The candidate will have close interaction with and influence team members across CCB treasury finance, line of business finance and CFOs, product and marketing managers, corporate treasury and chief investment office (TCIO), statisticians, risk, and model governance.

Responsibilities include:
  • Revise assumptions related to BPV/DV01, deposit rate paid, and funds transfer pricing (FTP) in conjunction with corporate treasury
  • Explain uses and sources of liquidity as well as changes in the mix and growth/reduction of balance sheet positions
  • Develop pro forma analysis of retail deposits, business loans and lines of credit, and security back lending in order to revise and monitor pricing strategy
  • Monitor returns of CBB products and advise on profitability and balance sheet impacts of new products/initiatives
  • Support efforts to advance multi-product relationship pricing analytics and offers
  • Advise on long term debt, preferred equity, and equity allocation in order to optimize CCB economics
  • Partner with quantitative modeling team to provide vision, business intuition, and build best-in-class models and analytical frameworks for forecasting Consumer and Business Banking deposit and loans balances, customer rates, and spread income
  • Become a deposit and loan data expert, utilizing a data warehouse to inform modeling approaches, understand customer behavior, research outliers, and prepare analysis related to making better decisions
  • Write formal documentation to support treasury assumptions for model and estimation risk governance
  • Write technology requirements related to forecast automation and online implementation of models and financial assumptions
  • Partner with other LOBs and functions to ensure best practices across the entire organization
  • Promote consistency of deposit and loan valuation across CCB

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required (finance, economics, math, accounting, statistics, MIS); Masters degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, financial analytics, or quantitative modeling at a financial institution or management consulting firm
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Python, R, SAS, and SQL
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to find relationships and identify patterns in large datasets and to see business implications of findings
  • Able to communicate with a variety of peers including software engineering teams and quantitative modeling teams
  • Working knowledge of banking
  • Ability to translate data into concise, insightful, and actionable recommendations
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills; VBA is a plus
  • Familiarity of Hyperion Essbase and Tableau
  • Aspiration to become a future leader at the firm
