Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves nearly 66 million consumers and 4 million small businesses with a broad range of financial services through our 137,000 employees. The Consumer & Community Banking Deposit Modeling Team is responsible for building state-of-the-art quantitative models and tools to forecast and optimize deposit balances and revenue. The models support strategic planning and regulatory requirements.

We are an intellectually diverse team of analytics professionals, focused on statistical modeling and optimization within CCB at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Our team answers complex and unique questions, utilizing cutting edge analytical techniques and leverages one of the world’s largest repositories of consumer data. We work closely with our partners throughout JPMorgan Chase to assess and execute critical business decisions.

The individual hired for this position will help design, implement, and maintain the forecasting and analytical platform used to price deposit and loan products. 

Typical duties for this position include:
  • Working in partnership with quantitative modelers, business experts, application developers and big data infrastructure engineers to implement statistical models into a forecasting framework
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Building analytical tools in Python or R that utilize the Spark data pipeline to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics
  • Profiling, wrangling, and preparing data from diverse sources to support analytical efforts
  • Building data driven visualization dashboard through Alteryx and Tableau tools
  • Conducting research and development with emerging technologies, to determine their applicability to business use cases and communicating their recommended use in the firm
  • Maintaining data dictionaries, identifying systems of record and authoritative sources, creating data quality rules, and creating data flow diagrams
  • Act as liaison between the business and technology organization teams
  • Create complex SQL queries in big data Hadoop Spark cluster to support both production modeling as well as ad-hoc requests
  • Ability to take “plain-English” business requirements, translate them into technical requirements, and prototype in executable Python or R programs


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (i.e. Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics), however, a Master’s is preferred
  • 4+ years of related experience with a Master’s or 6+ years with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Extensive data engineer and developer background with deep understanding of data pipeline ETL process
  • Mastery of SQL and one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python, R or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of Hive, SparkSQL, and Pandas/R/Spark DataFrames
  • Experience with Linux OS environment and wiring some basic bash scripts
  • Working knowledge of Anaconda python ecosystem
  • Hands on experience with Alteryx data tool and Tableau reporting
  • Architecture and implementation design experience with complex applications across various data platforms (Relational database, Big Data Hadoop ecosystem)
  • Familiarity with core statistical concepts (linear regression, generalized linear regression) is a plus
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills to convey complex information succinctly and clearly to business unit executives
  • Strong project management skills and Agile/JIRA experience (manage multiple projects and prioritize work requirements in multidisciplinary team settings)
  • Have a demonstrated interest in career development and be versatile and eager to take on new challenges
