Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others.

 

CCB Credit Forecasting is a cross Line of Business (LOB) team that is responsible for managing key processes around allowances (including CECL), budgeting, CCAR, ICAAP and Risk Appetite for all consumer portfolios including Card, Home Lending, Auto and Business Banking. The team also supports the CCB CRO and LOB CROs in aggregating credit risk across different lines of business and communicating with senior stakeholders across the firm including the firm’s C-suite and the Board. The team coordinates with external stakeholders as well including regulators and auditors.       

 
Responsibilities

The Credit Forecasting Central Planning Lead role is a strategic and highly visible role with a variety of duties that cut across the entire CCB Risk Credit Forecasting team. This is a team leader position who will be responsible for a variety of BAU activities and innovation to further enhance the capability of the team. This incumbent will develop, coordinate and manage strategic initiatives and special projects for the CCB Credit Forecasting Center of Excellence.  Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Act as the Planning and Analysis lead for Credit Forecasting Center of Excellence:
    • Manage quarterly allowance process with and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
    • Coordinate Budget and stress testing processes including CCAR, ICAAP and Risk Appetite
    • Work closely with Risk CFO office, CCB Finance and Investor Relations on quarterly earnings and Investor Day preparations
    • Lead and prepare weekly/monthly analysis and commentary for C-level executives
    • Work to enhance consistency across existing processes and reporting to meet changing needs of the business and drive process synergies
    • Ad hoc analysis and work (Development of Quantitative methodology used across CCB loss forecasting)
  • Partner closely with team leadership to develop solutions; create structure and drive results and set direction for team
  • Deliver insightful recommendations in a persuasive and thoughtful manner
  • Build consensus and effectively influence senior stakeholders with disparate priorities
  • Adopt a pragmatic approach in driving projects from ideation stage to execution

The ideal candidate has experience successfully delivering broad complex projects in matrix work environments.  He/she has strong analytical skills, is highly confident, collaborative, detail oriented, and thrives in a high-pressure and high-expectations environment.  He/she has a strong presence, superior influencing skills, is comfortable working directly with senior executives, effectively communicating and discussing strategic business considerations and project details at the appropriate level.

  • 10+ years of experience working in a Finance, Controllership P&A, Program Management or Business Management in the financial services industry with in experience in credit risk management; preference will be given to candidates with experience in allowance and/or CCAR 
  • Bachelor degree required; experience in risk, finance and regulatory a plus
  • Superior communication both oral and written is a must – ability to interface with senior management and deliver compelling presentation materials that summarize complex topics, timelines and tradeoffs
  • Social aptitude - Ability to build consultative relationships with senior management, becoming a trusted partner for thinking strategically about the risk management organization and the CCB organization as a whole
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when working without immediate supervision
  • Ability to multitask and re-prioritize assignments while maintaining strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities combined with “big picture” problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Assertive and self-motivated
  • Past compliance or regulatory experience a plus
