CCB Risk

Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others

 



The Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) Risk Control Team’s primary function is to implement an effective control framework across the CCB Risk organization with the goal of identifying and remediating control issues with a sense of urgency, regardless of the source with a primary focus on Business Banking (BB) and Chase Merchant Services (CMS).  The Team partners with all other Risk and control disciplines, adding an additional line of defense supporting Compliance, Risk and Audit, among others.  The Team works in partnership on the development of new, and oversight of existing, control functions and protocols throughout BB and CMS Risk Management and provides a centralized view of and from all control functions, assisting in immediate, real time problem detection and escalation.  The Team partners closely with Senior and Executive Leadership, Legal, Compliance and Technology as well as other groups within the Firm.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate issue identification efforts, assist in the development of Action Plans, and manage issues and Action Plans in CORE/Force for the Business Banking (BB) and CMS Risk Organizations.

  • Build partnerships within the Risk Control Organization as well as across various lines of business.

  • Partner with key business team members in the BB Risk Organization and stakeholders throughout BB on an ongoing basis.

  • Set and continually manage expectations with the Functional Control Officers for Risk and other business stakeholders.

  • Develop Issue Management reports, agendas, minutes, action item logs, etc.

  • Assist in the development of the Issue Management (IM) strategy and roadmap for continuing to drive the IM Control agenda forward.

  • Work in tandem with business functional resources and Control teams to resolve CORE/RCSA Issues identified in BB and CMS Risk, as well as identifying program efficiencies on how issues in the CORE/Force system are managed through closure.

  • Articulates complex issues and themes to stakeholders, independent advisor to the assigned business, identifying business issues, root causes and recommending both short term and long term action plans that address them

  • Validate that appropriate actions have been taken in accordance with the stated action plans.

  • Evaluating the accuracy of support provided by the Risk Management teams to support closure of action plans

  • Retention of testing artifacts and ownership and maintenance of testing calendar

  • Ability to identify risk and control points during reviews or from process maps, policies and practices.                                                                                                

  • Recommend Control design changes to ensure the business effectively manages risk.

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation and follow up on all items through completion

  • Plan, execute, and finalize a wide variety of projects according to strict deadlines and competing priorities

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

  • Assist with the audit, exam and engagement team as needed, including assisting in audit preparation activities as needed.

  • Promote collaboration among all teams within Business Banking and Chase Merchant Services Risk and Control Organizations

  • Takes initiative and independently manages complex projects and apply advanced knowledge of risk and control concepts and how to apply to business processes

  • Other tasks and assignments as needed 



  • B.A./B.S. degree required
  • 8+ years Risk and Control or other related experience required: in banking or financial services industry preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to negotiate, compromise and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situations and to interact effectively with senior management

  • Ability to build relationships with the Business and other Risk and Control partners

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management and process skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple, simultaneous, complex priorities

  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, recommend change controls to senior management

  • Ability to document process’ and lead process mapping sessions

  • Working knowledge of Force and the RCSA process       

  • Experience defining Issues and rating controls 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong execution and project management skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Individual  should be a creative and highly innovative thinker who is able to communicate new ideas, influence others to support their strategies and tactics

  • Advanced Quality Assurance testing techniques preferred
  • Automated auditing and/or automated control testing experience is a plus
