CCB Risk

Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others


This role resides within the Chase Card Risk Group and is part of the Risk Quality Assurance team that focuses on continuous monitoring of credit effectiveness within the Chase Card portfolios. As an independent “second line of defense” function this role continually interacts with senior business owners and risk professionals within Card Risk, as well as Card Operations to assess, monitor and report on credit effectiveness.



Responsibilities
 
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance management team and other members of the Risk management team to ensure the team’s efforts are always focused on reviewing the most appropriate credit approval/declines.
  • Organize/lead account review sessions with senior Risk and Operations partners
  • Act as a liaison between CRQA management and our Risk/Ops partners.
  • Act as a resource for our modeling partners. Develop relationships and provide on-going education to enhance their understanding of judgmental lending.
  • Conduct Q/A reviews on the most difficult, targeted work
  • Assist with the management of the process to formally track identified issues and the status of their resolution.
  • Effectively assist with ensuring we are continually monitoring the portfolios to identify any risk strategies or controls that are not performing as anticipated. Proactively use this information to suggest targeted reviews to better identify issues and provide actionable feedback to our partners.
  • Continually monitor delinquency/charge of trends by product/partner to identify potential account targeting opportunities.
  • Assist management with on-going daily team application review meetings to ensure the consistency and quality of feedback is maintained.
  • Assist with continual refinement of infrastructure for the Quality Assurance team including; policy/desktop procedures and reporting.
  • Assist with on-going projects supporting efforts to continually improve/enhance the Quality Assurance team.
  • Problem Solving Skills – identify effective alternatives and solutions for problems identified
  • Become a key leader in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholder groups
  • Manage individual assignments.
  • Wiliness to learn about alternative asset types (i.e. auto) and card/auto collections.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of financial industry experience
  • 7+ years of credit experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the credit practices and their operational processes
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and internal control principles
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently interact and influence senior leaders
  • Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver results
  • Ability to collaborate with business and functional experts to provide risk assessment guidance, recognize risks and design enhancements
  • Strong decision making, analytical and creative thinking skills
  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency
  • Proven ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
  • Credit management experience
  • Data mining/manipulation skills
  • MBA or a master’s degree in related discipline
  • Business process management or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience building Key Risk Indicators and Key Control Indicators
