Amgen is seeking a Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions, in our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. The role will report to the Executive Director of Transformation - Corporate Functions within the Results Delivery Office.

The Results Delivery Office (RDO) serves to help Amgen achieve its strategy. Working directly for and with the Executive Leadership Team and their staff to drive transformation and adapt to change, the RDO is organized functionally with a Functional Transformation Office (FTO) for each of the four major functions across Amgen (GCO, R&D, Ops, G&A).

The Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions will lead, or provide liaison support, for components of functional change initiative(s), drive improvement opportunities through the use of Amgen Full Potential (AFP) process and toolkit, develop approaches to improve efficiency and implement comprehensive change strategies to transform the organization and enable it to adapt to business challenges. Each of the FTOs will implement programmatic systems and processes developed by the Continuing AFP's Transformation initiative, advance organizational transformation capability development, and execute projects to continue the AFP transformation in the function. These activities will help ensure long term success and adoption of groundbreaking capabilities within the function.

The Senior Manager will work to bring the transformation further into each functional area, working closely with functional teams. The FTO agenda is set by the Functional EVP and his/her Senior Leadership Team. Passionate about supporting improved business performance, target achievement and critical initiatives that are key to Amgen's future performance, the Senior Manager will have regular interaction with functional leaders and lead teams to tackle business problems.

Responsibilities of the Business Performance Senior Manager - Corporate Functions include:
  • Develops strong skills in application and facilitation of AFP methodology and tools (Amgen Full Potential Capability, Tool Support, Coaching and Application)
  • Acts as a resource to the function for use of AFP tools and methodology
  • Provides cross sub-functional initiative support by working with teams to solve business problems using the Amgen Full Potential Methodology
  • Guides the team in AFP methodology, drives innovative transformational thinking, ensured fair process, raised issues, and ensured high quality deliverables in line with the AFP process
  • Provides valuation and validation by offering business case support for teams to value ideas, options and investments
  • Validates results realized, methodology used, and long-term sustainability of improvements
  • Supports idea generation in functions to ensure a steady stream of ongoing projects and pending ideas to align with short and long-term targets
  • Tracks and reports project status as the need arises by RDO for corporate role up and review


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Or

Master's degree and 4 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Or

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate Degree in Business, Science, Finance and/or Technology
  • 5+ years of experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical
  • 6+ years of cross-functional consulting, project management, and/or liaison experience
  • Experience at a premier Management Consulting Firm
  • Strong presence with Senior Executives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to storyline and prepare executive-level discussion documents
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with credibility enough to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and handle execution
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a shown ability to influence different styles
