This position is for an entry level paralegal who will provide paralegal support for patent litigation matters under the supervision of paralegals and will provide day-to-day general administrative support to patent litigation attorneys. Duties will include: document control and organization (including coding and database clean-up), assisting with all aspects of document and database discovery (including custodian interviews,electronic and paper document collection; document organization within document review platforms), trial preparation, trial support and general case management as a member of the litigation team.

Duties will also include: maintaining filing systems (including electronic databases); drafting correspondence and engagement letters; obtaining references, case law, patents, file histories; organizing materials, set-up binders, etc.: scheduling meetings including video conferences, coordinating travel arrangements, and utilizing on-line services (document orders, shipping, office supplies, expense reports, etc.); interacting with U.S. and global litigation counsel and support staff; reviewing, prioritizing and flagging high priority communications (emails, pleadings, and documentation) for timely and appropriate response; power point presentation preparation, word processing, copying, faxing, scanning, etc.

Overtime work and travel may be required as necessary to meet case deadlines.

This Associate Paralegal position will be based at Amgen's corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

OR

Associate's Degree and 4 years of legal experience

OR

High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of legal experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Litigation experience in a paralegal role, preferably in patent litigation

Paralegal certification

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively, be familiar with a variety of litigation management software systems, be organized and be able to meet deadlines.

Independent initiative and judgment

Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in a variety of database systems
