Job Description Summary
Human Resources provides Bentley faculty and staff with services and solutions in recruitment, employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, policy development and interpretation, learning and development, labor relations, organizational design, change management and human resources information systems. Our work in these areas aligns with the University's mission and goals, helping Bentley make sound and strategic decisions about human capital while ensuring that all employees are treated with dignity and respect.

The Learning & Development and Engagement function helps to drive organizational performance and engagement through strategic programs and initiatives in learning & development, performance management, employee engagement and organizational culture for all staff and faculty. The L & D/E function consists of a two-person team within the larger HR function. The range of responsibilities for this position encompasses the entire suite of L & D work. This may include: strategic and program planning, course development and delivery, group facilitation, data analysis, and general training coordination. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director, Learning & Development.

Essential Duties
  • New Staff Orientation - Oversee the planning, administration and delivery of bi-monthly New Staff Orientation. This includes but is not limited to compiling invitation and facilitator roster, composing and sending invitations, managing registration, and overseeing student and administrative support in preparation of materials, and other logistics. Continuously develop new delivery methods and content to keep abreast with current on-boarding best practices. Coordinate with subject matter experts and other presenters to keep course materials current. Facilitate program on rotational basis.
  • Assist with managing all training, learning, development and engagement content on the HR website, and showcases all L&D services available to the community.
  • Compliance training - Oversee and track completion of required learning associated with compliance, such as online harassment prevention training, IT security, and required policy awareness.
  • Employee Engagement - Implement biennial employee engagement survey. Assist with designing revisions to the survey to meet strategic goals; work with vendor to provide survey recipient data; analyze results based on established organizational and demographic parameters; create charts and presentations for division heads and others. Collaborate with senior HR staff to gather additional data through focus groups, etc. in order to develop effective action plans.
  • Performance Management - Manage all aspects of the Conversations about Performance (CAP) performance management system. Assist the Sr. Associate Director in the design and delivery of related CAP instructor-led workshops; run and analyze completion metrics, and provide senior HR leaders with reports.
  • Training Coordination - Provide support for instructor led training including scheduling programs, reserving and setting up conference rooms, sending invitations, monitoring enrollments, generating rosters, compiling course evaluations, and closing out sessions. Identify areas where process improvements can be realized through increased efficiencies and creative use of technology.
  • Ongoing Needs Assessment - Assess individual and organizational training and career development needs, and make recommendations for cost-effective ways to meet such needs that align with the strategy and values of the university.
  • Course Development - Work with Sr. Associate Director to develop and design new program content; research effective e-learning content applicable to specific audience-based curricula.


Other Duties
  • Oversee student and administrative staff in the creation, printing, and assembling of training materials.
  • Assist with the development of creative marketing approaches to publicize available learning & development opportunities to employees.
  • Coordinate with the HR Operations team to ensure that course completion data is captured in Workday.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to handle logistics of training programs—rooms, refreshments, materials and equipment.
  • Contribute to the support of the department's overall goals and objectives through participation in relevant meetings, activities and projects.
  • Manage training calendar and tracking of all trainings and events.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of courses and learning tools, products and services.
  • Create processes and efficiencies around content creation, delivery and upkeep.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, communications, marketing, business administration, instructional design, or other related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in a related field, such as human resources, education, or training, with some knowledge of adult learning, and familiarity with HR/OD concepts and current trends.
  • Experience with content authoring tools, LMS, web authoring, and/or e-learning products
  • Demonstrated success in program/project management. Excellent planning and organization skills, rigorous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise materials. Demonstrated effectiveness in and comfort with presentation to small and large groups.
  • Technologically savvy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products, especially PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with Workday a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to become Strengths/MBTI certified.
  • Motivated and resourceful self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines, creatively and independently problem-solve, and communicate clearly with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated record of superior customer service and responsiveness, preferably within a human resources environment.
  • Must possess the potential capability and desire to grow within the field of learning and development and/or HR.
  • Must be creative, agile and flexible, with a record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • A team player who can thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strengths/MBTI certification a plus

  • Previous work experience in Higher Education.

  • Position may require some night and early morning. Ability to travel to meetings to represent the University.
